Recruiting big time for us... hope he doesn't end up as this years Stepp....

Anyone have a feel for his ND love?

I think Stepp's decommitment was more about academics - not that he didn't want to go to ND.

I've heard a few different things. None from reliable sources. To end up at USC though lol.
Are you confident it was academics?

Not 100% confident, no. I'm sure someone will come in and clear it up.

However, can you blame the kid for choosing the best school/football program possible that he could get into if it was due to academics?

Yep.

But not the lazy kind of problems floated around by some haters. Some people just can't get the numbers to get into ND.

Thank you and reps to both of you.

I'll blame anyone for going to USC :). Honestly I'm happy for him if that's the case.

You call up Dylan Morris and tell him to come on over and he shouldn’t be sitting behind 2 2018 commits in the Dawgs class.

There's a reason that we've heard about him being offered by other programs and it's because he announces them. We all know that means something.

Yeah, guys like him don't usually end up sticking. What happens is they commit before they get other big offers, then they get those offers before their senior season so they have a whole summer where they think "I should be taking visits," then they either take those visits or resent the school they're committed to, then every school they visit rags on the one they're committed to, and then they decommit.

So just prepare now, I think there is a less than 50% chance he sticks with this class. Anyone who says they're "95%" committed is "0%" committed. At best, we "lead" and everyone is going to target us with their neg recruiting.

Yea, at this point, he’s making it very public and it’s in ND’s best interest to assume he’s not committed. It’s a bummer, because I really like Cade. However, in this day and age with QB dominoes seemingly leaving the last school to move, out. We can’t wait around for 95 to become 100, just hoping he sticks to his wishy washy commitment.

He could’ve used this publicity to really showcase ND, his commitment, and recruit like crazy for this class.

Wasn't there another QB who tried to commit and was turned away because Cade committed first? Or am I confused?

This.

I don't think he'll end up signing with ND, but why is what I don't know.

Is it because he really isn't all about ND?

Or is it because he doesn't want to come in behind Phil and now he realizes he might be good enough to start at a top 10 school?

Well we've all seen how this shit plays out. There's no such thing as 95% committed. He's 0% committed.

I'm not getting the same fatalistic vibe from that Biggins piece. The 95% comment wasn't ideal, but he also said he wasn't sure if he would even take any visits. We all know you can't stop recruiting kids once they commit, and this one could end up being a nail biter.

That said, just 9 days ago Huffman ran this artcile about how Cade is recruiting for ND and excited not to focus on recruiting as much this year:
https://247sports.com/Article/4-star-QB-Cade-McNamara-recruiting-for-Notre-Dame-115356366

The staff's going to have to earn their money on this one, but unless there's more going on behind the scenes of this article, I'm not seeing a reason to write him off. Put Quinn, Olmstead, etc in this class around him, and maybe that quiets his concerns. Now, if there is stuff going on, I'm sure 1 of the insiders on the board knows about it so I'd be interested to see if they're concerned.

.9628 4* Dylan Morris - WA - FAR - 6/24/17
.9333 4* Hank Bachmeier - CA - FAR - 10/15/16
.9114 4* Paul Tyson - AL - FAR - 4/2/17
.9054 4* Max Duggan - IA - 7h45m - 4/2/17

Just a few guys ND could circle back with. Hopefully Cade stays in cause I think he’s the best of this bunch and probably a top 7 QB in this class when all is said and done, but if he’s not all in then it’s time to find a guy who is. Hopefully this is just some fluff and everything will settle back down. Good thing is ND got 11 of their 13 QB targets from this class on campus already so they have that head start. I think they’ll be fine.

It's because he jumped on the first big offer, and now that he's on the true national radar (beating out whats-his-face for Gatorade POTY in Nevada was HUGE), he's looking at all the other programs as shiny new toys.

As LAX said, he's going to start viewing his commitment to ND as a hindrance now that he's gotten a taste of being recruited by other top dogs.

I'm not worried about losing him, regardless if he Goes to Georgia he will be behind a 5 star, same with almost every big school. If he sticks great if not oh well

I'd really like to keep Cade, I think he's the purest passer we've had committed and I think that would do wonders for the offense Kelly/Long want to run.

Hopefully he's just living high after receiving "all the offers".

It is possible that Cade likes the attention of the latest offers.

It is possible that Cade isn't fully convinced that ND is for him.

The other option that nobody has considered, is that Cade is cracking the door just enough to keep colleges recruiting him. This could be because he wants to give other kids on his team, or kids from the Reno area, additional exposure (possibly at the head coaches request). They may show up at a practice or a game and someone else might get noticed in the process. The interview really played up the fact how his recruitment is a pretty big deal for Reno area football.

Stage where half of the people didn't want him but now that Bama and Georgia does, it depressing to lose him

Its like my 4 year old niece with a old toy.. she doesn't want it until her sister tries to play with it

Yes.
