his highlights are pretty crazy for a sophomore. He's got a cannon already. Also he's built well for a 6'4" 15-16 year old. Gonna be a tank by the time he's a freshman.

Ohio State's Top 2018 Quarterback Target, Five-Star Phil Jurkovec, Commits to Notre Dame | Eleven Warriors

a selection of butthurt comments from OSU fans:

Liked Emory more anyway
Betcha Kelly negatively recruited us and the fact we might take two QB's this year.
Good luck kid. Will never quite understand the allure of ND though.

Is there anyone in particular that you guys like Phil will recruit himself?

Zach Kuntz is probably an obvious one since both of them live in PA

Some backstory on the Wiltfong CB to OSU, this far from me sticking up for him. He changed his CB to OSU because Phil's coach straight up told him that Phil was leaning toward OSU. Also, that Phil's GF is a pretty good field hockey player and has some connections to the OSU program.

From what Phil said to 247 about his commitment, his coach was so far off on this as Phil specifically said he was coming to ND to commit. Family must keep things pretty tight.

Only sophomores. I'm willing to bet they don't stay together.

I posted these names earlier but my guess would be.

Kuntz the TE from PA, Datson the small WR from PA, and Stepp RB from IN seem like the obvious choices to me. All have early offers, have been on campus already, and two are relatively close to Phil.

They can't without a prior relationship, but this won't get the attention of Eifert (lock to be a 1st rounder the next year) reaching out to Jaylon (top 5 player in the country). Our 3rd string QB reaching out to a kid in the 2018 class shouldn't be a blip on the NCAA's radar.

Plus they HAVE to have met multiple times during his previous visits.

Ok. I'll brace myself for the death penalty now.

Watched his film...

Gotta say i am concerned about his abilities. Only seems to be able to throw accurate long passes and runs hard with the ball. The lack of screen or short passes leads me to think that he must not be very good at them. Gonna need a lot of work.

Add Matt Bauer of Erie to that immediate list. I'd guess he gets an offer during II at the latest, hopefully it will come any day so they have a month to recruit him hard so he feels that II's the time to pull the trigger on continuing the WPa movement.

As far as potential commits at II, add PJ Mustipher and Houston Griffith as strong possibilities with Stepp. Dotson would be great too but I have no idea of his temperature.

Who I hope Phil can influence is Jalen Hall and Brian Hightower at WR and Jaelen Gill at RB who Markese Stepp has been on already.

2018 is setting up nicely.

I checked out his pages and I really like the way he 5-stars. I was not quite as impressed by how he 4-starred on a couple of sites, but overall he seems very highly-rated. That makes me like what I haven't actually seen on film yet.

That's premium analysis right there. Reps.

a selection of butthurt comments from OSU fans:

Thanks for the get big dog! But I thought I would point something out in the 11w article.

Phil Jurkovec is coming to ND. His odds cannot go up any higher than that. He was coming to ND since he made his decisions. That is when Phil's odds went through the roof.

HOWEVER, with Emory Jones, it is a different story : "his odds of ending up in Columbus seem to have just went up a bit."

I wonder if that is what happened. Phil's odds seemed to be in the Buckeye basket, and after they counted them, they all went to Notre Dame!

This post is worth enshrining in the Fuckeye hall of shame!

Here is an intelligent post, obviously by a Catholic Buckeye :

Etenim 15 hours ago

Nah, Western PA guy with Pitt on his list? I'd already tempered my hopes. Pitt and Notre Dame on the same list, for whatever reason, signals that I shouldn't even really pay attention to the prospect - which I didn't (so I couldn't tell you much about him). The only worse combo would be if he were coming out of a Catholic high school there, also. If it's central/eastern PA - then substitute PSU for Pitt.

Here is a classic from someone who is not :

Truly, go to a decent 11w thread. Take away the scarlet, grey, and team references. Blur the poster names. Many could be threads on IE! Je ne sais quoi . . .

I mentioned earlier that I thought he could be a generational talent and the only other player I have ever said that about is Jaylon so it tells you what I think about his film and measurables, etc..

The kind of early recruit that can be an absolute game changer for the next 3 years.

In all seriousness... How could you be an elite WR and not want to go to ND with the QB roster, the O line roster and CBK's offensive scheme?

Biggest no brainer in the game right now.

This!

That's a lot of guys to commit at the same time. Just don't see more than 1, possibly 2. Hope I'm wrong and you're right.

I used the words "potential commits" and "possibilities" for a reason. I by no means implied ND will get multiple commits at II. It would surprise me if no other '18 guy commits before/at/following II but I wouldn't bet on all of them for sure... but it wouldn't shock me if up to 4 of them joined Phil in the next 60 days either.

Quite an endorsement! Definitely looks like the type of early commitment to build a special class around. Should pay 2017 dividends too.

Something else to contemplate: ND may have just got a commitment from, recruiting-wise, the #1 most important player available in high school regardless of class.

They got the #2 overall QB behind Trevor Lawrence, who make no mistake about it is the best player in high school but he may play the game till the end or at least another year which lessens his ability to recruit like what Phil has been doing since yesterday. Another thing about Lawrence is he's interested in Georgia and Clemson where the last two top Pro-QB's like himself are going. I could see him waiting till the end to see where the best place for him to get on the field ASAP. If I were him, I'd commit to Miami right now and build my team with Richt but that's another story.

In regards to the available 2017 QB's, there's Tate Martell and his impact might be Tyjon Lindsey. Remember, much of the 2017 class is already committed. Besides Martell, all the QB's are taken until the 3 stars down in the mid #20's. Hard to think there is a single available recruit left in the Class of '17 that has the same power to influence a team over the next 8.5 months.

Going back in time, Jimmy Clausen committed on my 40th birthday as I sat in Caesar's Sports Book. That gave Jimmy 9 months to be the face and foundation of ND's 2007 class which netted... two Top 5 WR's (Tate and Kamara), the #2 TE (Ragone) Top 10 RB's (Allen and Hughes) and other top recruits like Matt Romine, Gary Gray, Hunter Smith, Kerry Neal and Ian Williams. (Jeebus Charlie that's some talent...)

CBK and crew have Phil as their poster boy for 21 months.

All things considered... with the way recruiting is publicized and dependent on the players building classes through their social media connections, this might be the most important commitment ever.
