Loy was told by someone in the Gug that he is a legit 6-1, 180 with 4.5 speed. Excellent and smooth in his backpedal to burst. Impressed the hell out of everyone around the program during his visit. Perfect ND fit.

I had never heard of him until this week, but kid you not had someone tell me today that he's their second favorite player in the class. Hopefully all these good vibes are legit.

Supposedly he just blew everyone away this weekend. Very intelligent, very articulate. Fits the description of an ND kid to a tee. Long, smooth athlete. 3 star player who develops into a 4 star college player IMO.

Next year we could have (all) our 5 scholarship CBs back.

Quick look at rough number roster management:
QBs 4
RBs 5
WRs 12
TE 4
OL 15 40 Offense
DE 8
DT 9
LB 9
CB 8
S 8 42 Defense
Kickers/LS 3
---------------------- 85 Total

Despite the much maligned and discussed cornerback recruiting, our celebrated 2017 defense trots out in most packages a mixture of 2 sophomores, a junior with 2 career starts entering the year due to consecutive season ending injuries, and a career underachieving senior.

If we sign 3 CBs this year, Wilkins is a great 3rd corner. By all accounts: high character, high upside kid with a nice offer list (MSU - want...anyone?). Our roster in 2019 would include Crawford as a 5th year (if he so chooses would have a 6th year option in 2020), 3 seniors, 3 sophomores, and 1-2 class of 2019 recruits as freshman.

In summary, all is well! Not a fan of the overused term, but we are "on schedule." Welcome Joe!

I love his ball skills, and his potential as a returner. Also seems to be a very heady player. I think his future is on the defensive side of the ball. Anybody else see a free safety?

Well if he doesn't work out at corner he could certainly flip to safety.

I don't care what the recruiting services say, he looks much better than a 3:s: athlete on film. He looks real quick and in some plays in his film you can tell he plays with an edge, you can't teach that.

Very happy to finally have a CB in this class and one who has rising stock. Hopefully we can add 1-2 more.

Just watched his film. He looks really good for a 3-star, I'll gladly take him in this class.

He has size, speed, and most importantly, suddenness, which will be important at corner for breaking on routes. He didn't play a ton of corner in his film, but he played pretty much everything else so I have little doubt he can play corner at a high level. Honestly, he looks like a 4-star WR in his film. I really like this pick up.

How's his competition? That's a lot of highlights for 1 season!

I appreciate this analysis. That is exactly what I thought, and its nice hearing it from a skeptic.

He's one of those dudes, like Love, whose just always making plays. He reminds me of Moalla in that way.

Not knocking Love, who I love, but he's more athletic than Love by noticeably margin IMO. But I agree, just out there making plays.
