Way to close this guy! Honestly he’d have been a very good pickup at any point in the season and to snag him so late is seriously impressive, especially from an SC/UCLA feeder school.

To me, he's basically Hainsey, if Hainsey had not gone against thoroughbreds everyday at IMG.

So I'm expecting him to be in the mix by his Sophomore or Junior year.

Given how close this appeared to be between ND & UCLA, I wonder if the fact that NPF chose pOSU was the tipping point for ND.

well done here. IMO, this takes the OL class from serviceable to strong. I think he is the best of the ND bunch and is top 150 overall.

Certainly better than he’s rated. He’s a multi year starter on a good OL, IMO

Check out this salt and hilariousness -- Patterson to ND | mgoblog

Best quote:
I visited there in the fall of 2016 when my daughter was picking schools. That campus, while pretty, was one of the most depressing places I had ever been. None of the kids were smiling and the whole place just seemed repressive and backwards. A stark contrast to NU, where all the kids were happy and obviously brilliant.

I mean sure... whatever made up, comical lie helps you sleep at night...

HS signing day program had him listed as signing with UCLA,
which he intended to do until a flip last night.

Between this and Boykin wearing all UVA/UF colors before going the other direction I'm at a loss for words. This shit never happens in favor of ND.

The only way it makes sense is if we find out a ND bagman paid them both last minute, and they're deemed ineligible and declare for the XFL.

That's the only ND-finish to this, right? I don't believe in good surprises.

Brian Kelly is hired to be the next Colts HC and takes Lea with him.

I get the feeling Patterson and the 2018 OL class will be better than most thought.

Posted something similar in Luke Jones's thread awhile back. As much as I love the 19' OL class, I don't think Dirksen, Patterson, and Jones are going to make it easy for them. The 19' group is going to have to earn those starts should they get them away from the 18' class.

Hopefully ND under Quinn can play more guys than HH did over each class' cycle. HH found guys he like early. What you ended up with was fewer guys playing while those who did play were 3 year starters. Of course, all those snaps is a big reason why a handful of them are multi-millionaire draft picks. However in a perfect world, HS A-A's would come in and RS, learn their Soph year on Scout/3rd team, Junior year come in and challenge for a starting position or be a #2 w/ a good # of snaps and then be a full time starter Sr. year & maybe GS year. The key is to do that process while still ending up a 1st/2nd/3rd round draft pick.

I was super high on Patterson before ND came calling. I liked Jones much more than it seems any of the services did and thought Dirksen could be a mini-Q if he could acclimate to the size/speed of the college game. Him running with the 2nd team at RT has me thinking he's better than I thought.

How is it possible no one has been in this profile in over 2 year?

Woah.
