Yep. Quinn wanted him bad and went all in on Patterson. Wasn’t Michigan heavily involved in the recruitment. It came down to ND, UCLA and Michigan.

I remember listening to a Clemson reporter on an Irish podcast (can't remember the reporter, or podcast) talk about how good NDs line was but "55" was the weak leak in the line and got beat on the film he watched.
No idea what film this guy was watching...
Big loss, but I think Zekes ceiling is crazy high and reportedly plays mean as heck. I'm willing to bet he doesn't want to "let the line down" and will come in and play with nearly no drop off.

I tend to agree that the ideal option would be Zeke taking control of the position and getting much needed reps for the future.

I think and hope that’s what will happen. I’ve been expecting Zeke to be the starting center in 2021 and Patterson starting at guard in 2021.

Hasn’t Zeke impressed the staff and media during camp and practices? During fall camp 2019 and practices fall 2019 weren’t the coaches raving about him at center?

I can’t recall media comments at this time but I know that Kelly made some comments about how tough he was on scout team offense. And he’s looking like a solid 295 now. My expectations are high for him, eventually. Hoping it’s soon.
