Look for him to commit to Michigan soon according to Driskell from Rivals. Said he was told by a source ND and Jeter have parted ways, and the issue is a foreign language class Jeter knew he would have to take all along. He decided he didn't want to take another foreign language class, therefore, ND is out.

This makes no sense. He's announced he was going to be an EE long ago. If he wasn't enrolled in said foreign language class at the start of the HS semester, why the charade? Why did they accept his commitment? Are we to believe ND didn't know until just recently what classes he was enrolled in?

I believe it.

This is why I can't stand Loy and his supporters. Instead of doing his homework and understanding how recruiting goes sometimes he just listens to the kids and what they tell him. I will never question his work effort but now he will be looking like a fool and we wonder why EVERY fanbase thinks this guy is just a joke.

This is a tough blow to ND and one we desperately needed. Hopefully we can get Paschal unless OSU wants to make room. Can you even blame Jeter though? Michigan is embarrassing teams that we would be in a fourth quarter battle with.

Yep, Harbaugh just turns the teams he coaches into winners in very little time. He also knows how to step on a team's throat, and go for the kill. As you mentioned, ND has never had this killer instinct, and we'd be in a fight until the end. The Don Brown hire has worked wonders as well.

Loy is backtracking a little bit saying he only said his gut told him he would pick ND in the end, because Jeter does like ND a lot. Also mentioned there's a bit more to the story that he'll share at a later time.

My guess is he was taking the required foreign language class and was perhaps struggling to pass that class and dropped out of it. Is that a possibility even for high school? Just another theory.

As long as I can remember all "ND acceptances" are contingent on academic compliance even after LOI are signed. All offers are conditional. IF your grades drop, you withdraw from a course you don't get in ND.

ND gets transcripts from high schools, not weekly progress reports from the teachers. If a student says he talking a course it's accepted until shown otherwise. (Tee Shepherd) And if he isn't taking the course or making progress, appropriate action is taken by ND. That goes back beyond Holtz.

Carson Palmer was requested by ND to do a retake. Initially he said he would. When other schools, like USC, didn't require that he refused and ND withdrew the conditional offer as he was not compliant. Then Palmer bitched to the press that ND said he wasn't good enough.

David Terrell committed to ND. ND Admissions wanted a retake of his SATs even though it was sufficient for the NCAA Clearinghouse. Other schools including Michigan told him he didn't have to do that. He decommitted from ND pledged Michigan, and went on to the NFL.

Hope he graduates or makes the pros but starting out looking for the easy path shows a lack of character. Hope it works out for him.......not really.

I don't know the kid and I suspect you do not either. If it is true that he lacked the foreign language requirement to get into ND for all we know he gave it a try but just could not pick it up. Some people have trouble learning a foreign language and really struggle. I really dislike Michigan and Harbough but I wish the kid well (unless we play them).

If you can't be bothered to take a high school level foreign language course, you probably aren't going to succeed at ND.

I'm guessing he is intelligent enough to pass. If he isn't, then he was not going to get in to ND anyway.

IMO you don't decommit and flip quickly after that if it's only about a grade or a class. Kid wanted to be at Michigan. Don't blame him.

[QUOTEFor the second time in less than two months, Donovan Jeter took to Twitter to announce his college choice. This time, the winner is the University of Michigan.

Jeter, a highly-rated defensive lineman from Beaver Falls High School, tweeted Sunday that he has decided to attend Michigan. He is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com, and said the main reason he has decided to attend Michigan is coach Jim Harbaugh.

“He might be the coolest dude I ever met in my life,” said Jeter.

In early September, Jeter made a verbal commitment to Notre Dame, one day after he returned from a trip to Notre Dame for a game. But last week, Jeter announced on Twitter that he had a change of heart and was reopening his recruiting. When he made his Notre Dame decision, he said Pitt and Michigan were his other two finalists.

“I felt I committed [to Notre Dame] too early,” said Jeter. “I was so enamored with the place. I did it because I wanted to get the pressure and the stress off me.”

Jeter made an official visit to Michigan this weekend and made a verbal commitment to the Wolverines. Verbal commitments are not binding.

Jeter said he started having second thoughts about Notre Dame not long after he made a commitment. He thought about Pitt again, but he really took a liking to Michigan, and Harbaugh had a lot to do with it.

“He doesn’t act like he’s important. He doesn’t act like he’s one of the best coaches in the country,” said Jeter. “He’s real down to earth and humble. He’s easy to talk to. Talking to Brian Kelly wasn’t fun. It wasn’t cool. You have to make an appointment just to go to his office. Coach Harbaugh has an open-door policy. Every one of Michigan’s coaches has an open-door policy.”

Jeter still plans to graduate early and enroll at Michigan for the spring semester. When asked if there is a chance might change his mind again, Jeter was staunch.

“I’m done. I can’t put myself through this again,” said Jeter.

Beaver Falls finishes the regular season Friday with a game at Beaver.][/QUOTE]

I mean the irony is that "coolest dude Harbaugh" is hated by a lot of former players... and guys he ripped scholarship offers from at the 11th hour.

Good luck to Jeter, there's a lot of red flags on this one.

If I was a kid and the only deciding factor was a head coach, I'd commit to Harbaugh over Kelly 10 times out of 10.

Despite what was said regarding BK and harbaugh....I do wish Kelly was a bit more of a players coach in the day to day operations....seems so mechanical that comes across as complete CEO instead of coach

Yup, it is, regardless how you Michigan fans tried to spin all hundred of them last year. And Doug Baldwin and Richard Sherman have been VERY clear about Harbaugh, more explicit then you ever hear former players rip on a coach.

"Jim and I did not have the best relationship while I was at Stanford," Baldwin said last January. "I was immature, a young athlete who thought I knew everything. We clashed at times. I was dealing with injuries and that also prevented me from performing the way I wanted to on the field. So a lot of things went into it.

"But I actually thank him now for the adversity he helped me through, so to speak. He made me who I am today, a better person and a better football player. It's nothing against him personally."

"I wish him the best of luck," Baldwin said. "He's anxious to get that program turned around and do some great things at Michigan. I wish him the best."

You're just gonna ignore all of the stuff he said for YEARS in favor of the one article where he is clearly just trying to be the bigger man and bury the hatchet?

Funny how you didn't link any of Sherman's stuff. Or about how did Kain Colter dirty. Or how he pulled Swenson's scholarship last year. Or quotes from players in San Fran.

Just one thing omitted from his comments above...

“All of you guys know that Jim Harbaugh and I did not have the best of relationships while I was at Stanford, but all of that stuff is settled now,” Baldwin said last January prior to the NFC Championship game. “I was immature, I was a young athlete who thought I knew everything so we clashed at times, and I was dealing with injuries so that kind of held and prevented me from performing how I wanted to on the field. So a lot of things went into it.”

Baldwin said he nearly submitted papers to transfer schools before his mother told him he needed to stick through it. Though Baldwin’s issues with his former coach have lessened over the last four years. However, it didn’t stop Baldwin from getting one last dig at Harbaugh on Wednesday.

“I wish him the best of luck,” Baldwin said. “I know he’s anxious to get that program turned around and do some great things at Michigan. So, I wish him the best of luck.

“And Go Buckeyes.”

...kind of puts a slightly different spin on the comments.

He's a Michigan fan doing the best propaganda he can. Jim Harbaugh is a hell of a coach. He has a history of mistreating verbal commits and has had many former players who have gone on record... which is very rare... stating how he did them wrong and why they hate him.
