I think we’re playing Clemson and if that’s the case the two best games against them offensively were Texas A&M and South Carolina. I believe it was 430 and 510 or so yards passing for each team so it’ll be about the passing game for ND. It’s gonna have to be working because Clemson has the best rush defense in the FBS by a solid margin. They are incredible against the run but are beatable against the pass. If we play Georgia or Ohio State or Oklahoma they are much more beatable with the use of the running game.
If Long draws up a game plan to prioritize quick throws, we stand a chance against Clemson. In the past, all the early dink/dunk has worked well in regards to time of possession, has worn down Ds, made teams start to bite up, and opened things up for rushing and longer passes. If we come out trying to toss it long and run it straight at them, our OL will get smacked around, Book will get demolished, and we're going to get smoked. It's as easy as that. As far as rushing goes, we've been pretty successful once Book gets going. And we have had better luck with misdirection plays, and plays that attack the edge. I hope all this non-bread and butter stuff by Long has just been a set up for the CFP.
