Problem with Vaughn is that he's our biggest corner. Usually, nickel backs are shorter and quick. Not saying Vaughn can't do it, but his physical stature best fits on the boundary and not the slot.

This my thinking as well. Not the typical "build", but if he's athletic enough to play as a "big nickel" it would be huge for the secondary's stability.

That sucks big time for the kid. I feel really bad for him. Friend of mine coached at St Ed’s when he was there and said he was a great kid.

Damn....3 devastating injuries...I hope he keeps his head up.

Sucks 3 days before the season you lose your nickle after 3+ weeks of fall practice.

Crawford is one of the stories of an exceptional kid, that I’m glad we recruited. I’ll be extremely excited he got his degree at the end of this. And, that’ll be the difference between ND and everybody else. He’s been a great ambassador of the University. Love that kid, get better soon.

2019 would be his GS year if he returns. Also a very good chance he'd be awarded a hardship year in 2020 (If he and ND apply for one).

By 2020, he'll be able to do a PhD transfer instead of a grad transfer!

But seriously, he may be able to leave ND with zero debt, 1 undergraduate degree, and 2 graduate degrees if it works out.

the freddy canteen method

Dr. Freddy Canteen was just granted a medial hardship waiver by the NCAA. He will join the Harvard football program next year and also run for Senate.

Freddy Canteen laughs at the 4 for 40 concept. If he lives to 95, he'll be the first 7 for 70.

I’m so heartbroken for the kid. You know he was chomping at the bit to beat down Michigan.

Hopefully he gets a hardship year and is a captain in '19 & '20.

A degree in Design and an MBA would open more doors than he could ever walk through.

He deserves it.

Yes!!! Dude just has a knack for making big plays. Really need him next year to help minimize the impact of losing a shutdown DB like Julian Love!

This will be Shaun's cast he'll have to wear next year.

After all these injuries, Shaun is basically the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Couldn't he tech apply for a 6th after next year?

2015: Torn ACL
2016: Torn Achilles (2 games)
2017: 12 games
2018: Torn ACL
2019:
2020:
2021:

He technically would qualify for a 7th year. He’d absolutely qualify for a 6th year due to 3 season ending injuries but could even stay for a 7th. Texas Tech had Tony Morales...

2011: Torn Labrum
2012: Torn ACL
2013: Torn Labrum
2014: Torn ACL
2015: 10 games
2016: 12 games
2017: 2 games

If dudes like Weinke and Weeden got 6th or 7th years, they'd be 40 when they finally left college football.
