At this point I think we all agree that the staff, while successful and great at identifying and developing talent both (1) makes mistakes, and (2) plays favorites at times.

This means that the "if there was someone better they wouldn't play him" line is pretty much dead. (See Joe Schmidt)

And the "if he was so good they would play him" line is also called into question. (See Nyles Morgan)

Where am I going? With the issues we are having with inexperience at WR, and the never-ending stream of practice praise for Finke, I think he deserves a shot at meaningful reps. I am not going to be satisfied until he gets them, and doesn't produce.

He is not a bad athlete by any stretch of the imagination and played high-level high school football. What he basically was is one of the great mass of 5'10", pretty fast skill players who may or may not develop and P5 coaches have absolutely no need to take a chance on because they have so many other options.

Well it seems to me we may have gotten a good one, and I'd like to see him get a legit chance both at Punt return and Slot. He sounds like Robby Toma with some speed to me.

DN has thrown out the challenge to the staff...

Greyworm is already typing his, "DN's Crazy" response.

Greyworm is already typing his, "DN's Crazy" response.

My timing was good. Greyworm will now have to deal with Coach Kelly.

LOL. He didn't say, "Robby Toma with speed," he said "Robby Toma with more speed."

Nothing disrespectful about saying someone is faster.

But I hadn't realized that Robby ran faster than Cierre (4.50 vs. 4.52).

He better have been fast considering he was leik 4 feet tall if my memory serves me.

It seems like he's pretty popular amongst his teammates. I thought this was pretty good.

Good for Chris. I've been told that he is a terrific kid off the field and the work he has put on the field has been incredible. I hope he finds a way to just keep climbing!

I'd bet he gets some work in the return game, at the least. Sounds like the kid can make some plays.

Good for him for edging out Holmes for the back up slot spot. I'm hoping he can be a reliable return guy and a receiver that run nothing but 7-10 yard routes. I bet he could do great against linebackers

I know this is brought up every time a member of WOPU Nation gets upgraded, but does this mean he's on scholarship for good?

If so... that means BK saw fit to give a scholarship to a RS FR, who will be part of the receiving corps for another two or three years. That's yuge.

I was wondering the same thing because as of now we're at 83 schollies with only 9 players out of eligibility for next year. With 17 current commits that's 91. It's gonna be interesting who of the seniors will be asked back. Either a lot of early defections or a lot of guys not being asked back at this rate. But we've experienced a lot of loss before

I meant that it's huge more in terms of the potential that the coaching staff sees... they wouldn't do the feel-good-give-a-walk-on-a-scholly thing for a RS FR if they didn't think he's actually gonna be on the two-deep for the next two or three years.

Unless he's been told that it's a one-year deal, I'm thinking it means that the staff finally hit the jackpot with one of their PWO offers, and we've got ourselves a legit slot receiver behind/along-with CJ for the next two/three years.

But yes, it's also interesting in terms of scholly numbers... but we all know that this team could over-sign by 15 guys and still end up with 83 scholarship players to start the season haha.
