Wow. This young man will be exciting. Hopefully Kelly realizes he has a massively talented offensive line, a TE recruit that can compete for minutes from day one, who also presents a match-up nightmare down the seems and two RBs that are chomping at the bit, waiting for the gate to open.

I will join the Kelly camp of doubters if he can't produce this next year (barring injuries). This team is simply too loaded with talent to not hit double digits, the schedule be damned. Just from recruiting alone there shouldn't be 15 teams better than us in the nation.

If he's the mastermind we think he is, then he'll adapt like he did in '12 and customize his offensive gameplan to make maximal use of his team.

I don't remember this much talent at every position on offense, ever. Is that too bold? We have burners, striders, redzone threats, mismatches at TE, a number of QBs, two top 15 RBs and a line that finished the year on an upward swing.

That depends on how old you are.

.

I was alive but didn't watch the last national championship teams. I was watching since around 2002 with a friend of mine who's a big gd'er. Do you remember a team that was this loaded at every position? I know we've had marquee players on offense but even the best Weis years weren't this good. Our lines were poor or there was a position that left us wanting.

Best TE he has ever seen on film? OJ Howard?

Yet rivals just ripped the kid at the Army Bowl basically labeling him soft and will tap out with a hang nail.

I agree with Driskell he will push Tyler Eifert records

As a receiving TE, I'd take AJ over Howard EVERYTIME. AJ is Funchess on his best days at Michigan, everyday, right now.

Just wait till next year when you can watch him live on every play... even when he doesn't get the ball. He was open on every play against John Bosco and Corona Centennial and those are 2 of the top 10 or 20 teams in the country last year. He loses DB's like the Knick's lose games. He works back to the ball instinctively and on cue. He had @ 1000yds on a running team that also had 2 other good WR's 4 star Cordell Broadus and Tyjon Lindsey, who is the real #1 WR in the class of 2017 at this time. If AJ doesn't break every TE record it's because ND becomes a dominant running team like we saw against LSU.

I respect your opinion, I truly do, but I believe this is putting expectations way to high, to basically unobtainable levels. Given your scenario, if BK wins double-digit wins next year, its a 'pat on the back,' and a 'you should have done that.' ho-hum

I base my opinion of BK on what he has done to build a program, what he has done on the field (one more victory than LSU has over the last 3 years - 29-10, 28-11). If Les Miles is not on the hotseat, why is BK? Hell when BK took over ND, they were a lot farther in the dumps than LSU was when Les Miles was hired. Yet BK gets ire of some ppl because he isn't getting it done fast enough. Ppl seem to forget, all those coaches 'who have got it done quicker' are ALL in some way or the other looked at as shady. Les Miles, Nick Saban, and the shadiest mf'r of them all, Urban Liar.

BK has built, and is building a foundation that the program will stand on for years to come. Urban Liar, leaves the job before it is discovered that his foundation was just a façade.

The All American depth on the OL right now is amazing but the late 80's - early 90's teams had All American's and Pro Bowlers too. The 92-93 team had Tim Ruddy and Aaron Taylor. The 88 team had Andy Heck and Tim Grunhard. A lot of the other guys were drafted and had their day in the league.

What sets this team apart from the old teams is the depth at RB in the old days. I just added up the '87 team's RB's career yardage and it was @ 10,000 yds. McDaniel, Folston and Bryant will be lucky to eclipse 6,000 at this pace. That team also had future HOF WR Tim Brown too. To put things into perspective, Ricky Watters got moved to flanker because the backfield at ND was too crowded. Yeah, he went on to rush for 10,000+ yds in the NFL but got bumped out of the backfield on his college team. And it only gets worse for Watters in '88, he gets some freshman named Rocket to compete with for touches.

The only place to find more talent than an ND - Miami game in the late 80's was in the NBA finals with the Pistons & Lakers.

The last few years it seems I worry less about flipping someone else's star players, but instead worrying about our guys getting flipped

I doubt Jones is going to be flipped, but it seems odd to ever worry about flipping someone else's star players. That's always kind of a long shot anyway, I say just be happy if it happens.

Wow.

What a scheme it would have been for Mora to work up a plan to seal up a tandem by letting Aliz'e in on his plans.

"You'll need to commit somewhere else, and I'm gonna bring in Clark. We will run double tight 90% of the time, 50% of that with you flexed out."
