You have to wonder if he doesn't break his leg and DeShone doesn't seize his moment as starter would we even be talking about him declaring?

Such a good "what if" question. Zaire almost surely would've posted a 10 win season last year, and Kizer even admits he was WAY behind Zaire in spring/fall practice. So Kizer doesn't play, then Zaire would've started again this year... Zaire isn't exactly a pro prospect at QB, so what happens then? He realistically could've started last year, this year, and next year.

So then Kizer probably transfers, and Wimbush takes over in '18 with two years of eligibility left?

The hype train will look a lot better if Q and Big Mike stay another year. Wimbush should hit Vegas if if they decide to stay after Kizer decides to leave.

Sadly, other than a great win against USC in 2015, that probably is the best gift he ever gave.

Had Malik not gotten hurt and we assume he kept the job this year, he would have graduated and gave professional football his attention. It's safe to say MZ see's himself in the mold of a Tyrod Taylor. Now I'm not going to be silly and say what he would've / can do in the NFL but there's a lot of guys getting paid by the NFL and there are QB's making millions in Canada. I have zero doubt he would have gotten paid at some level had he been the 2 year starter at ND. That didn't happen but he has one more chance. With a good choice and some luck it wouldn't surprise me to see him earning a good living on a pro roster.

I was just thinking how boss Wimbush feels right now. How would you feel if you just found out you were going to be the starting QB for Notre fucking Dame for the next 2-3 years?

I'm sure he's pumped about that. About Sanford's departure and Kelly's hot seat? Probably not so much.

I thought Mike already said he was returning. Did something change?

Yes, he's said repeatedly he's coming back. Don't think Nelson has said one way or another which is interesting given that everyone else has made a declaration.
