Then where are they?

But the OP made it sound like we have All-Americans waiting in the wings. I doubt that considering our mediocre line play this year.

To be fair, two of the studs are freshmen that need time to physically develop. The other (McGlinchey) is just now getting his shot. So I don't think the line play this year reflects the potential that's on the roster. It doesn't happen right away considering the development needed to simply deal with other big guys, so I don't think it's out of the question to ask if Tillery could help on the d-line with all the young guys waiting their turn on the o-line.

But to counter myself, there are also several guys on the d-line that needed a year to develop as well.

Has Tillery said where he wants to play?

I would put Tillery on the defensive line, we are stacked at the o-line.

Lol. Being a millionaire in your 50s and having to go to kids houses and beg them to come to your school has to be so awkward.

Agreed. McGlinchey, Nelson and Bars have potential to be stars on the OL for the next 3-4 years.

I completely disagree.

I would bet it's refreshing to be around people, being people.

Nothing better to me, than to be invited into someone's home to enjoy genuine hospitality combined with.. Wait for it.

Legit gumbo!?

Are you kidding me!?

Epic.

McGlinchey should've played a lot more this year. A lost development year in my opinion.

I was convinced in training camp and still am that the best 5 Olineman included McGlinchey at RT and Lombard at RG.

"Hey son, want to be a millionaire? I know a school that'll set you up on the right track in more ways than one..."

Martin played last year. I'll give you Stanley.

We've got loads of bodies on the OL. Some of them would frankly be better off flipping to the DL, if just for playing time's sake. I don't know who, but a few of them. Tillery could be one.

As for the gumbo: Yeah, I'm sure it can be weird sometimes. But it's essential, and you've got to enjoy the gumbo at some level. If you don't, it probably shows. To the recruits and certainly to their parents.

still not convinced about Elmer as a guard tbh, am surprized people are naming him there in their preferred 2015 OL lineups

I thought Martin stunk as our center.

He even looked bad at the blue & gold game. What about Mark Harrell??

I am probably not remembering this right but wasn't there some talk the Hodge kid could step in at center day 1? I find that really hard to believe but who knows...

I think next year will be

Stanley-Nelson-Martin-Elmer-McGlinchey

TJ agrees

A lot of uncertainty on that OL. The talent is there for sure but it was frustrating to watch Elmer get absolutely abused last year. Seems he took a step back from his frosh year. Maybe beefing up the run game will help. McGlinchey has the highest ceiling out of anyone in that group but is still raw and inexperienced. Nelson should be a talent upgrade. Martin needs to improve at the center spot in multiple facets. I know a lot of their decline in production has to do with losing Zach Martin and Chris Watt. There's also the fact that Golson is more of an improvisational QB. Whereas Tommy Rees would spot the blitz, slide his protection and remain in the pocket - Golson seems to be much more content in just scrambling around for 5 seconds, trying to spot someone open down field and trying to fit the ball into double coverage.

Has anyone heard any updates on John Montelus? I know he's had shoulder problems but what's the outlook for him moving forward? I think from a raw talent standpoint he's a much better fit at guard than Steve Elmer ever was.

He's got the ranking and body to suggest he might do ok, but I'm always skeptical of any true freshman getting major reps on the O Line.

Stanley got pretty serious backup reps as a true freshman, but then Stanley is one of the better tackles in the country right now.

Yeah but I doubt he comes in with enough lower body strength to take a spot from a fifth year senior. I think Bivin will be the only non-starter that pushes for playing time at center in 2015.
