Awesome!
There's a little recruiting-service drama on this one:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23NotreDame&src=hash">#NotreDame</a> has good news coming - & it's already been reported elsewhere - but per the kid's wishes, we're going to wait to release it.</p>— Irish Sports Daily (@ISDUpdate) <a href="https://twitter.com/ISDUpdate/statuses/459028758323011584">April 23, 2014</a></blockquote>

Cary Grove (Ill.) offensive lineman Trevor Ruhland became the seventh member of Notre Dame’s 2015 recruiting class today and while it was a tremendous day for his player, Cary Grove head coach Brad Seaburg wasn’t too keen on how the news got out despite the family’s wishes.
“It’s true, Trevor did commit to Notre Dame today,” said coach Seaburg. “He talked to coach (Harry) Hiestand and then he spoke to coach (Brian) Kelly and told them his decision. After he finished talking to both of them, I asked him if he wanted to let the media know and he told me he wouldn’t do that until he had a chance to speak to some of the other coaches that were recruiting him, so we didn’t make it official until later this afternoon.”
Despite the snafu this was definitely a wonderful day for both Ruhland and his family.
It took four visits before Trevor Ruhland landed a scholarship offer from Notre Dame. When he returns for a fifth look at the Irish program he’ll be able to count himself as a commitment.
The 6-foot-4, 270-pound offensive lineman committed to Notre Dame on Wednesday as the Irish coaching staff rolled into Chicagoland during its opening week of the spring evaluation period. The product of Cary Grove High School in Cary, Ill., becomes the seventh pledge in Notre Dame’s class and third offensive lineman.
Ruhland last saw Notre Dame in person during a spring practice visit, which followed a junior day stop in early March. He also attended the BYU game last season, which wasn’t his first look at campus.
“What kid grew up not wanting to play for Notre Dame if they love football?” Ruhland told Irish Illustrated earlier in the process. “They’re always on TV, always competing for championships, with a great history with NFL guys. There’s really nothing more you could ask for, right? It’s a pretty special place.”
Ruhland held offers from California, Connecticut, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue and Syracuse. He’s also a legacy at Iowa, where his father Matt played defensive tackle for the Hawkeyes.
Despite a recruiting profile that was more regional than national, Notre Dame offensive line coach Harry Hiestand pressed forward with the offer coming out of that spring practice visit. Ruhland liked what he heard from the Irish assistant both as a recruiter and a future teacher.
"Coach Hiestand really likes tough guys," Ruhland said. "I think I can provide that. I think he likes that I'm a smart player too and can read defenses. I'm an interior guy for them and I can come out of both stances. I could play center, wherever they'd need me and wherever I could get on the field the fastest."
Ruhland, who plays both guard and tackle at the high school level, projects on the interior in college.
Something iffy happened here. Little parcel from ISD story:
So did Rivals and Loy mess this up?
Reminds me of this guy. Tenacious. Read some of these early comments. Comical.

As usual, who can really tell until he lines up against guys we know are seriously "bad" opponents, but:
!). Harry looked at him for a long time and said "come on, kid, join the Fist-of-Doom we're building at Notre Dame."
#2). Harry looked at him and....
#3). Harry looked at him and....
meekly, #4). He obviously likes to not only hit people but obliterate them;
#5). He keeps running down the field hoping to find someone else to introduce to the turf before the whistle blows;
#6). Intuitively he reminds me of Nick Martin.
As to whether we're too loaded on the interior --- I don't think so. We're actually more loaded at tackle now than the three insiders, as our great "tackle" Elmer can't even get in there. When you consider that we have two to three "5-star-level" [my judgement] Olinemen coming in, all of whom COULD play tackle, I'm happy with a true guard/center. Neither Montelus nor McGovern have gotten the rave reviews of Elmer, McGlinchey, Bivin [although Coach gave McGovern a pat lately], so the soph-level guys are stronger at tackle than the interior, and the incomers look that way too.
I'm guessing Harry and Kelly will see young Mr. Ruhland as a road grading mauling guard instantly. Guard because Mr. Bivin will take the center position in his turn. So, as to young Trevor: Cheers my young warrior! Welcome to Notre Dame! You'll have a blast with Coach Harry turning you into an NFL quality lineman. And, I see about 310 pounds in your future.
this is another in the mold of chris watts. good job to our staff.
Welcome sideburns.
