I love the fact that this kid loves Notre Dame. You know he'll give all he has.

Seems to be a new DL recruiting philosophy. We never signed this many DT's with Diaco. I like it. I trust the coaching staff. Koon has been eating bad Chinese food. That is all.

2015 defensive line not stacking up? Oh, well, Tyler Stockton didn't account for many tackles, but, with a fifth year, he did make it to graduate school?

C'mon man your better than that....right?

This and your post about Hoge are awful!

This post literally has no worth. It'd be one thing if u had a point or the post was relevant but Stockton was high star recruit not recruited by this staff and you've gone off topic before to take shots at Stockton.

Stars matter, but DL is one of the hardest positions to project. Aaron Donald was the 37th ranked DL coming out of high school. Ra'Shede Hageman was a TE, Will Sutton was ranked in the 40's. So, for every Nix or Easley, there is a low ranked guy making serious waves. For perspective, in 2010 Texas had 5 4* or higher DE and DL and 0 of them were drafted.

Anna thinks the staff will take 4 d-linemen this cycle.

Tiassum, Dew-Treadway, Taylor(?), and maybe an elite prospect

You would have to think that the 4th with that haul would be a WDE like Lucier-South or somebody else of high caliber

Out of current/former Notre Dame players, he reminds me of KLM the most

He might be better than cap. He certainly has less of a hill to climb to get on the field. Kap was only 225 coming out of high school and needed to gain a substantial amount of weight in order to contribute. MDT is already at his ideal weight for a hybrid DE/DT at 6'4-6'5/270. Now he just has to lose bad weight and replace it with muscle.

Who knows how a junior in high schools tape will project as a 5th year college lineman as a senior? Ask Michigan State when they line up against ND or Ohio State. Just sayin- I trust Brian Kelly over any recruiting service all day every day!

When Orgeron was the HC at Ole Miss, he and his staff noted that all the in-state players played/trained much harder than the out-of-state players. Obviously, ND isn't a state school, but lot more flaky players from CA/Florida than from the midwest throughout the years.

This is huge IMO. An extra semester of conditioning and coaching should help immensely.

Indeed. It helps especially, because he'll require very little work physically to get game ready. He's already at the ideal size. So more there can be more focus on him learning the playbook, rather than getting to playing weight.

And I also think it means his schollie would count towards last years class of '14 numbers instead of the '15 class.

That doesn't really do much for us. The issue isn't class numbers, but total numbers. Most of the time, the class numbers are only an issue with the oversigning culprits down in SEC country.

From watching his video he seems kinda stuck between DE and DT. He doesn't exactly have the burst to be a game changer DE, and he doesn't have the strength for DT. I hope he turns into something, but I just see him as a role player at the moment. (naturally this is all based on the film i've seen)

was very surprised to see him listed as a commit this morning.

i like the idea of BVG being pumped about this dude. we've just out recruited Diaco's DT haul for the past 6 years once Taylor goes public with his commitment.

I think that was the most underwhelming highlight film I've seen of a ND scholarship commit since I've been following recruiting.

If they didn't have the yellow circle to point him out, I wouldn't have been able to pick a DL that was a D1 player on that line.

I don't think this is someone the staff needed to 'lock up' in June.

I can only say one thing: I trust the coaches. When the offer defies my expectation, I have to assume the coaches who watch tape and know how to project players have a reason for accepting these commitments.

Now let's start grabbing some 5 stars
