at 6'5" i dont know if he needs to run sub 4.5

He doesn't. A 4.6ish at his length and skill set will make him effective at what he does at #3 or #4 WR.

But I think he'll run in the 4.5's

Fun game: Over/Under. Assuming he makes it past his four year contract, how will his numbers stack up against T. J. Jones after four seasons?

45 RECs 624 Yards 2 TDs. Also keep in mind Jones was a practice squad player for nearly two seasons, and dealt with a few, small injuries.

He could be a player that winds up producing more at the next level. IMO, it depends on who drafts him and if he puts in the work. The talent is there.

Haven't read a word of this thread but just saw the news on Yahoo. Hate to say it but think ESB will be a NFL bust. He's just not a Kevin Stepherson type talent.

Hope I'm wrong and wish him the best.

I think this certainly contributed to his situation.

I think it was the biggest element of the decision without a doubt. I do think ESB COULD benefit from another year in the college game, but not sure he'd benefit with another potential year if BW doesn't improve. Actually Book or PJ would likely be good for ESB, but all the question marks make it an easy decision IMO, especially if he's grading out in the 2nd/3rd round as I've heard some say. I'd think he'd be 4th or 5th, but I'm no scout.

I really hope this decision pans out. I will be rooting for him to succeed, no doubt.

That said, he better knock it out of the park in the combines because with the season he's had there is now way he goes in the early rounds. He was average at best this year. Way too many easy drop balls. Though, I don't know how much of his poor production is on Wimbush...

Softest receiver I can remember in an ND uniform with his talent level. I'm ready for the young guys. Good luck ESB, you're gonna need it.

What an ass. He played for us and he's moving on, it's probably in the best interest of both parties. No reason to disparage our players

The tone was probably wrong, but the sentiment holds true. Does it not? I agree we don't need to disparage our players, but if we're being honest ESB did play pretty soft. When is the last time you saw him layout for a ball or come down with a contested one? How many quarters, halves, wholes games did he disappear? I get that A LOT of that is on BW's shoulders, at least in terms of ESB's production. But anyone who was watching would agree that ESB left a TON of opportunity out there on the field. I don't want him to declare. I want him to stay and play to his potential. But it has become obvious that he's not able or willing to do that. To that I say, "Fare well, ESB." Wish him nothing but the best. Now a less "gifted" WR will take his spot on the depth chart and more than likely be more productive.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that. I seen him but a couple guys on their ass during the LSU game:

When did you ever see him outwork anybody? To me he wasted his talent, he should have had far more production then he did. He left a lot out on the field. Next man up.

Maybe money is just a bigger motivator for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he tore it up in the league. He's a huge talent.

Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame
Height: 6-4. Weight: 205.
Projected 40 Time: 4.50.
Projected Round (2018): 1-3.
Equanimeous St. Brown posted poor numbers in 2017 - 31 catches, 468 yards - but that was hardly his fault, thanks to horrible quarterback play. St. Brown requested for feedback from the NFL Draft Advisory committee, and they gave him positive feedback, and predictably so. St. Brown has gotten positive marks from scouts and teams for route-running, hands, size and speed. He has the potential to be a first-round pick, so he made a good decision by declaring.

Grade for declaring: A-

This surprised me. I must be missing something that Walter sees and knows.

And I thought all four ND players received a grade of return school?

I believe he got a "return to school" which simply means not 1st or 2nd round. The prediction above is 1-3 round so would be somewhat consistent with that I suppose. Perhaps they get some additional "comments/feedback" and that is what he is referring to?

His touchdown against Stanford made me sad that BW didn’t have the ability to get him better touches. I wish him luck and hope he crushes it at the next level.

No we knowing his lil bro had no intention of coming here that makes hi. Leaving a long time planned out decision IMO. He played against LSU and made an effort because he was trying to leave a final impression. Too bad the hinal impression is we will be better playing Boykin full time with ESB gone and that sadly Stepherson (whose probably gone) was our real number one WR. Ta ta ESB an don’t I don’t expect him to finish up his degreee. If he does he can have his daddy (whose already planning on how to spend his money) pick up the tab. Can someone name someone with less reason to ,save early who left early?

We’re having a tough week and now we have to deal with his better lil bro at USC. We can only hope to push him around when we get our chance. Real missed opportunity imo ro play side by side with his bro and step right in sincere KS is probably gone. We’ll see how much PT he gets this year at USC. Wonder how happy Amen will be when Chip runs LA in 2 years. BW stinking up the joint did us no favors. Am I bitter? Yes I am. Coney and a Tillery better stay!

Lots of natural WR talent here but really underachieved this year. Some of that is QB play, but more of that is drops and a lack of focus.

I'm fine with him leaving and I wish him the best. I think the dad was a problem in his ear his entire time at ND.

I wonder if folks like Tim Prister are correct? He made the comment that ESB is leaving one year early so he can end his football career one year early. In other words, he thinks ESB doesn’t “love” football but knows he has the talent& training to cash in. Collect big money, play afew years & then get on with his life. Maybe his dad liked the idea of his sons beings NFL WR more than his son?

Doesn't he need to kill the combine to get drafted in the first three rounds? I would take the over on 4.5 forty prediction here. Agree with Lax that contested balls are not a positive for ESB which could be reinforced by a weak bench number. If numbers support lack of separation and inability to win 50/50 balls.... combine might make or break him, IMO.

I would say the ball that Wimbush threw that almost got him killed was "laying" out (when he landed on his head). I remember a flip in the end zone that he caught. He may have not always made plays like that and maybe had some drops, but I remember several really outstanding plays that a lesser receiver would not have made nor even attempted to make. I imagine this last year with a QB who couldn't hit a simple screen caused some of his frustration drops.

Saw yesterday that Charlie Campbell on Walter Football had him as the #3 WR in the draft behind just Ridley and Sutton.

It would be a cold day in Calcutta before I could pick EQ over Christian Kirk or James Washington.

I've realized that Walter football doesn't know the difference between their ass and elbow when it comes to mock drafts. If they still have EQ as a 2nd round pick, they clearly didn't watch a down of Notre Dame football in 2017.

I hope the highest draft position for EQ but I wouldn't want my teams to take him in the first 2 rounds. Hope he catches fire and tears up the league.

If he did receive a 1-3 round grade I can't fault him one bit.
