In most seasons, with injuries, teams that win need two quality QBs. I would love to have DK as the starter and Wimbush available to finish games and come in for injuries. If DK is gone, who is ready to come in if Wimbush is injured?

MVG! He's a PTPer baaaabyyyy! (Getting ready for some Dickie V today)

Ian Book is next man in. Seems BK does well with RS Freshman so no worries.

You have an incredibly high opinion of BK and Sanford to think they could fix your 2 concerns more effectively than any of the 32 NFL teams that could draft him... especially when they'd be doing it while simultaneously wasting 50% of his brain time on read option & designed QB runs.

I was speaking of getting the right coaching at the next level. It is fairly obvious that BK isn't up to the task. Don't know as much about Sanford's role at ND so can't really speak to that.

I get ya. You'd think that a team that is using a 1st / 2nd round pick on a QB would give him the best instruction possible... tailored to their offensive scheme. Not ND's scheme.

Also by NOT going at the top of the draft, he gets time to incubate like Brady, Rogers, Rivers, etc.

Wasn't Rivers picked #4? I think that qualifies as the top of the draft. Though I do agree with your general point.

Without looking, I don't remember TBH. I was just referring to the fact that those three got to sit for a year or three and work on their game in the team that picked em's system.

My post could have been worded better.

They stressed that did not mean he was coming back. Others named were Quenton Nelson, Greer Martini, Drue Tranquill & McGlinchey

Addressing the leadership issue which was apparent this year. Name them early so they can start holding people accountable during the off-season.

So Kizer is widely expected to be a 2nd round guy this year if he comes out, and a likely 1st rounder next year. And there's a debate on here if he would start at ND? People are ready to move on from him? Some of you have lost your mind.

I'm a HUGE DK guy. It's definitely not that I don't think he can win the spot as much as I don't trust BK to make the best decision.

Trivia question....

name the last Irish QB that hasn't been hyped.

Kizer. He was just some guy on the bench, until Zaire got hurt. Then he grossly exceeded expectations.

I see a couple of place predicting he goes 4th to the bears. I think making him captain is kelly trying to keep him one more year.

Nah, I think Kelly knows he's gone and is fine with it. I bet it's announced very soon. Problem is that if they didn't listen him and he has some last minute crazy change of heart it'd get super weird... and would've been doubly weird in the moment last night.

Thank you for an incredible season last year Kizer, and I don't blame you for this year. Bring on the Wimbush Era

I'm not sure he goes in the first round. Maybe somewhere late like where Paxton Lynch got drafted last year.

I predict he will be one of the first 3 QBs drafted and somewhere in the first round.

Good luck to him. The lat game heroics at UVA will be the lasting memory of his time at ND for me. It is the right decision to move on even though hes not ready for the NFL because its a weak QB class and an NFL staff should be able to develop him more effectively than another year with BK at ND where QBs have shown little to no development and improvement over their careers.

As long as Cleveland doesn't draft him I expect him to be a very good NFL QB... He has the height, arm strength, can run a little... all the tools to be successful

How weird is it that a year and a half ago DK was absolutely struggling in the 2015 B&G game, clearly a #3 at that time behind Golson and Zaire. One transfers, the other gets injured, and he becomes the man. Now he's going to the NFL, and likely an early draft. I would have never said that in the spring of 2015.

If he promises to have a Joe Flacco floor, I'll sign off and allow Virginia McCaskey to select him with our first pick. Otherwise give me the top Bama defender available and I'll check out the clearance aisle later.

Best of luck DK. Thanks for all you did. Wish you could have gone out on a winning season.
