his accident was the beginning of the end for the Carroll era i think. They are snakebitten and need to start over.

For a team/coach that started his era by seemingly crushing the draft, they've certainly had some head scratchers lately.

can't blame them for drafting Malik in the 2nd. I don't think that one was a head scratcher. Kid had top 10 NFL draft talent. He just happens to also be an idiot of epic proportions. It was worth the risk for a 2nd round pick imo. His talent was worth it.

I'm guessing plenty of people can blame them for drafting Malik. If a guy has all world talent but no self-control, he's not going to add to your roster. This is hindsight but I'm sure there are plenty of people who are pissed off about this.

They could've selected:

McDowell was really only trying to build up his resume for a defensive analyst position with the Spartans.

He’s lucky he’s still alive. If you watch the whole thing he definitely reached for the female officer’s gun. If he had grabbed it he’d be dead right now. What a fucking moron.

Also that taser didn’t do shit. Wonder if it was because he was drunk or just huge. Either way when people ask “why didn’t they just tase him,” this is why.

Seriously though... shoutout to Malik for not being more violent? Kind of kidding?

When the taser didn't work, then he got up all pissed off...

YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ME WHEN I'M ANGRY!*

I thought for sure it was gonna get much worse for the cop.

Also shoutout to the cops for handling their business without totally freaking out or melting down.

See, you all have this guy wrong...... The taser was named “Supervisor”. He was simply making numerous requests for said taser and became enraged once it was deployed erroneously. Give the guy a break, he obviously deserves a second chance (since he’s never made any previous mistakes).

3rd chance maybe?

they really need stronger tasers. dear lord.

Think the reason the taser was ineffective was because he had a thick hoodie on. The prongs probably didn’t make it to his skin. Pretty sure they didn’t because they have barns on them and he wouldn’t have been able to reach and just tug them off had they went into his skin.

I've seen quite a few videos where tasers didn't work...

the cop was giving him the old "if you i have to ask you 13 or 14 more times I'm gonna" routine

The officer was to close when he deployed his taser. The spread pattern was to close.

I was joking.... Apologies if I didn’t make that clear.

The taser likely didn’t have the desired effect because-
-The leads(barbs) were too close. This would significantly reduce the “arc” that is necessary for the full effectiveness of the taser. This generally happens when the taser is deployed from close proximity. I’m not sure that’s the case here.
OR
-Only one lead actually landed. One lead landing does nothing (other than a possible minor injury from the barb). Both leads need to land to create the arc
OR
-The thick clothing prevented actual contact to the body. This would be the cause usually when the target wears thick jackets or several layers

I can say that the clothes need to be pretty thick for the barbs not to penetrate. Typically one of the barbs not landing usually causes the ineffectiveness. Generally there is a second charged cartridge carried for a quick retreat/redeployment. A last option (before transitioning to hands on or other less-lethal choice) would be a “drive stun”. This is when there’s no cartridge and the leads from the taser are pressed against the target. This is not recommended and is not nearly as effective.

All that being said, there are a lot of police that would have handled that waaaay more violently (firearm) based on the size/strength advantage. Not that it was perfect, but I give that officer a lot of credit for everyone walking away with their life. I don’t know why he didn’t use his gun, but I agree with a previous post saying that due to the immense (generally uninformed and unfair-NOT always, but generally) scrutiny, officers are afraid to go to the firearm. Intelligent people can argue both sides of the issue with regard to use of force. I think this subject is very lucky that he wasn’t shot, especially after grabbing the firearm of the female officer.

I'll give Malik the smallest bit of credit. He was unruly, didn't comply and instigated the entire thing but if he wanted to put that officer down, he could have. Easily.

He actually held back multiple times. And the "reach" for her gun appeared to be him just reaching. It looked like he was just trying to grab anything. It looks like he let off when he realized he touched her gun.

This was a guy who didn't want to comply but who also didn't want to hurt anyone.

Kudos to the officer for trying as hard as he could to avoid the conflict. He gave Malik 37 attempts to listen. You could tell the last thing the officer wanted, was to end up on the news.

I agree. My teammates and I watched this video and pretty much came to the same conclusion about Malik's' actions. Actively resisting yes, fighting no. Malik could have crushed that officer if he had wanted to, which I my opinion would have more that likely led to a deadly force situation.
