Maybe this is just semantics, but I would hope he's announcing his decision, not making it. Never understood why kids set arbitrary deadlines for decisions...

Anyway, that's another rant for another day. Hope he's Irish, but if not- moving along.

Remember the days when JSapp would go into hiding on the day of a commitment. Was always oddly comforting for him to go MIA for a short while- almost always ended well lol

Also.... if he is worried about doing things the "right way," should he really be announcing this time around at all? (Unless, of course, he is sticking with Purdue.)

I think you should either play the game that everyone else plays--and not pretend to be above it--or keep it to yourself. Like the linemen seem to do. Trying to do it "the right way" in pubic in the internet age is pretty hard to do, and only really makes sense if you are dead set on sticking with your original committment.

The fact is, though, these are professional, adult salesmen who are trying to sell you their, personal product for their personal gain. What they are selling MAY BE best for you (like ND often is), but that is not why they are selling it (Coach Kelly would be selling whatever he has to sell, just like all other coaches). Very few (Tony Alford) are genuinely interested in what's best for you. If they think you'll work in their system, help the team, and can make it at their school, that is the end of the analysis for many of them. The NCAA signing deadline is something of an escape hatch fo these kids. It's alright to admit you acted too soon, you are dealing with some real smooth operators.

The analogy is engagement, not marriage.

I don't know. Purdue is a great school and he could be a big fish in a small pond there. At ND, he is just another 4-star in a class of mostly 4-stars.

I hope he's Irish. Love his game, and with the scholarships still on the table, we could definitely do a lot worse than 4-star athletes. Heck, maybe he'll pan out like Ogletree.
