I mean the dude posted a video of allegedly a man getting beaten for raping a baby... and equated that to "what should happen to an ND coach." That's completely out of line on a hundred different levels.

EDIT: Reading his Tribune comments, it cracks me up that he would fly off the handle... then talk to the coaches... then be like "Oh, OK." Order of operations should've been talk to the coaches... then decide what emotional reaction he wants to have. He's a grown ass man and he should act with some maturity.

I understand what he means about the playbook thing. When Zaire was on the field I could have told you what the play was going to be. I think Zaire was handcuffed but even when he was in there the team wasn't moving the ball. Sorry Malik but Deshone is just on a different level in this offense. Love Zaire as a leader for this team but his dad is acting a fool, it's not like your son was getting the job done. Time to move on for the time being and Zaire will still be the A+ teammate that he has always been.

Social media is a helluva drug.

I mean its pretty bad when a father alludes that a coach should be beaten for "lying" to a player.

Video/gif/whatever flat out didn't load for me first time,... I just saw a blank empty nothing first time around,... Honestly tho... Now that I see everything after having this huge, mysterious, hype attached to it...

giphy.gif

My honest, initial, thoughts now that I've seen everything,..... Share all or stay quiet, pumping this, " omg, you should have seen _x_" just sets unrealistic expectations I guess, bc it really doesn't seem worth mentioning now,...

Just sayin.

The below comment is the answer. He's simply not getting the team into the right plays. They are not calling the same plays and even if it is there are variations of plays. Can't stress that enough. He's given options and he's either not using them or doing so incorrectly.

The staff told Imani that he needs to improve on pre-snap adjustments.

Edit: Only addressing the play calling

Great point, I was mainly addressing Malik and the play calling he was given or checked into it

Well, this post is below average, so I'm going to beat you for it. You've lied to us with your previous posts about how great of a poster you are, so prepare for an ass whooping!

I don't believe it was Twitter. I think it was posted on his Facebook page. See #2493 above that shows what was said.

I read that article already, and it references the FB post which is whole lot to do about nothing. That is NOT what LAX is referencing. There was some seriously questionable Twitter shit going down.

I feel for him a bit. He's a father first, and obviously is torn for his son. That said, he didn't do a smart thing given the way he voiced his frustrations, but Malik hasn't been favored by Lady Luck. Came in early, redshirted and had to watch us struggle in 2013 with Tommy while Golson was out. Golson comes back and takes his spot back, then stinks the place up the second half of 2014. Finally gets his chance to start, only to get injured...and now benched for Kizer. I get where he was coming from on the play calling, I thought the same myself, but if Malik's not getting the pre-snap adjustments right or not checking into something else, that's on him. I'd still be interested to know how often Kizer checked out of a play and how often Malik did Sunday. Whoever was at fault, made no sense to repeatidly run into the teeth of the Texas defense given how well they were stopping the run.

"Imani Zaire also shared a video of a man being beaten in public. Above the video, he wrote, “This is what should happen to a certain coach for lying to folks.”"

Shouldn't be allowed around the program at any point going forward or have any contact with the coaches. I mean this is beyond an embarrassment. It's a back handed threat. He didn't ranthe to a friend or family member. He posted on the social media for everyone to see.

WTF does this even mean? All we have heard on Malik is how his leadership ability is so off the charts... go move the chains or sit down. If he was so damn good he would have checked into a play that could succeed. He didn't see it and lost the job to a guy who can. Alignment before assignment, right? Isn't that what is screwing our defense and making us call for heads?

I see virtually nothing in Malik's game that convinces me he is an NFL talent. From day one I could see how he could be a great college QB but not NFL worthy. "Leadership" has always been his A+ category - funny because that might be the most subjective thing to grade out. What kind of leader wants/needs everyone to pander to them and walk on eggshells when they are obviously #2 for a job? You want to be the best you got to beat the best - don't remember Kizer ever saying boo while he was being overlooked by everyone in the free world.

All that said - no problem with Malik moving on to LSU to play a year. Seems like a perfect match to me. Better save a lot of cash off that first NFL contract though, Jamarcus.

My favorite part of the tribune article is where he says I'm not a helicopter parent who calls and bothers the coach, and then proceeds to call the coach.

There was? I didn't see anything in that regard. Just heard that there were some embarrassing Facebook posts.

I think Lax was referencing the video Malik's father posted of a man being beat for raping a baby and saying a coach on the staff should be treated the same way.

That was posted on Faecbook and the embarrassment he was speaking of.

I've seen Malik's fathers Facebook but I don't believe he has a Twitter. I could be totally wrong though.

Good lord. That's a bit much.

If I was some top recruit, I'd ban my parents and siblings from social media.

If I was a parent I would know my place and let my 20-22 year old kid fight their own battles.

That's what you think....but then you have kids. I'm already having to check myself with toddlers.

I can't imagine what I'm going to be like when they get older.

I understand, as a parent, but do it constructively. This stuff he's posting is awful.

I agree, but it works. I've seen it both in high school and college. Parents get involved and it was obvious their involvement influenced decision making. I'm not suggesting it happens at ND - I'm just saying I've seen it where I've played and I'd bet most guys who have played high school or college ball have seen the same thing.

I graduated high school and was fighting my own battles when I was 16 and I didn't have a full ride scholarship to one of the most prestigious universities in the country. Priorities, dad. I would give my left nut to have a degree from Notre Dame thirty something years ago but (Conjecture), it sounds as though he's worried more about his son's depth chart status than his education. I don't mean to deride the young man but it's not as though he has a pro future as a quarterback.

As I am more exposed to sports "programs" with my middle school son it strikes me that a vast majority of coaches are in it only to promote their (often less talented) special snowflake and curry favor with their "friends". Lots of good coaches out there too - just not often that I see them coaching their own kid.

Going into my 7th year as a college coach, my philosophy is that it is always appropriate to contact a coach about a student athletes well being. I am very adamant that there should be an open line of communication. As soon as playing time comes up a line has been crossed. Coaches do not owe players, Freshman - Seniors, anything at all. Playing time has nothing to do with a child's well being. Mr. Zaire is a helicopter parent in every sense of the word. This is a college football player on scholarship to Notre Dame. That's the only guarantee. Mr. Zaire's approach to this situation shows he thinks his kid is owed something. Your kid isn't owed anything, he isn't special, and your hamstringing him for the rest of his life.

100%.

My point was merely to express that it's hard to not be a bit overbearing when it comes to your own children.

Everyone, to some degree, feels that if their kid is benched it's some degree of injustice. I dont' care who you are or what you say.

Not saying it's right, but again...it's your kid.
