I don't know the Julius Jones situation, but if it's similar to this, I would hope he reaches out to Bryant (or ND asks Jones to reach out to him).

Jones found himself academically ineligible. He earned his way back into the program and balled out right into the NFL draft.

I'm glad he's coming back. I hope he'll do the work.

Does anyone know if he can get eligible again after the fall term? Can he even get involved in the spring ball or is it going to be the whole year?

This may have been addressed already but I haven't seen it...

Since he received a red-shirt for medical his frosh year, played last year..going into this year, he had 3 years of eligibility left. Academic ineligibility does not constitute as a "red-shirt" year, so he'd have 2 years starting 2016...right?

There is no time table for the maturation from boy to man, however significant life decisions can speed the process along. My hope for GB is that he acknowledges the support and guidance from his family, friends, and ND, and uses this situation to grow into the person they know he can be. Good luck GB.

That's correct.

Good to see for Greg off the field. Also good to see him not quit on academics. I figured for sure he was done here for the second time god I wish used his head at the same rate of his heart.

I think a stern talk from dad may have something to do with him staying. "Son, you're not even the starter. How do you figure you're going to get drafted? Chances of you getting to the NFL are slim. Let's get that degree so you can have a comfortable living once football is over."

Greg's dad seems to "get" ND more than Greg does. At the end of the day GB has got to sort himself out

Sad truth is, if some of the stuff flying around about his motivation and such is true he may have trouble in 'the real world' Notre Dame degree or not... it's not like a degree from ND let's you sit around all day while making six figures.

So true. It can at least get you in the door. What you do afterwards is up to you.

I have no idea so i ask .. the value of the degree is the same for student-athletes and regular students? On paper yes but in a job interview maybe not.

Jones became academically ineligible to play. He took a semester away from ND and moved to Arizona, where he attended a JC (to get his grades back up), and also worked out with his brother(then Arizona Cardinals RB) Thomas Jones. He completed the classwork that ND required, and was readmitted to the University and welcomed back to the team. He was probably the last truly "great" back that ND has had. He had the power to just blow through arm tackles at the LOS, the vision to find the crease, the shimmy and shake to leave a defender grasping at air, and also the speed to break away and take it to the house.

I would love for this to turn out to be another Jones scenario.

You know, those are great sentiments to post on Instagram and I hope everything works out for the kid.

But, posting pics w/ motivational captions is a lot easier than actually busting your ass.

Show me.

I'd rather him post that pic than say nothing, or spew sour grapes. I want to see something too, but I'm happy to at least hear the words right now.

The lure of ND at it again. Yet another highly touted/proven stud that would rather get that degree than take what might be an easier way out.

Good luck to the young man.

What an asinine tweet!!

"kicked out of" what? Bryant is ineligible, not expelled or even suspended!

I'm getting a James Aldridge feel when it comes to Greg, which sucks because I was pulling for Aldridge big time when he came to ND. Both guys were big time athletes coming in, missed their chance to get in the mix early in the careers because of injuries (Before or during the season), and then....it never really happened. I still remember those guys behind me at the Michigan game that were complaining "Why is Cam McDaniel getting carries? No one should be touching the ball but Greg Bryant. Cam shouldn't even be on the field."

I'd take 3 steady Cam McDaniels that play above their level before I'd take 1 inconsistent or incomplete player. That's just me though.
