IIRC, his mom said he needs to get his degree, not specifically that it needs to come first.

Actually here in the Atlanta papers she has said she couldn't care less right now about the NFL. The degree is what matters to her. She's a no nonsense kind of lady who works in the Gwinnett County Sherriff's Dept. and Stephon listens to his mother.

Thanks GB, I think you did the right thing, along with everyone else who was aware of the rumors.

Finally the cat is out of the bag. This shouldn't come as a surprise to some of you as you have previously stated. I heard this about a month ago and didn't take it to seriously still am not.

Known for a month that "he was leaving"? You literally posted this yesterday an changed your "prediction" today. The reality is that you read the same stuff everybody else read on the rivals board and didn't actually think he was leaving until, at best, yesterday.

There are dozens of people on this board that saw the rumors and didn't say anything, but once there was enough smoke someone was bound to mention it. It wasn't "letting the cat out of the bag". It was simply regular Joe info making it onto the main board. At any given time there is always some transfer rumor floating around, most of the time there baseless. Unfortunately for us, this one wasn't. But it is fun reading you grasping at straws in hopes of being the insider on this one.

Back to sitting on my porch watching the storm roll in. Couldn't resist really.

Hahahhahaaha go back to your porch. I knew for a while that it was up in the air if he was coming or not. I was emailing a ND mod about this for about 2 weeks now and he told me he was coming, he changed that yesterday when this news broke. If you would like me to forward you the emails I will do that. If you want to ask Ironman, Golden, Whiskey, LA feel free to do that as well. Go back to your porch, I am glad you came out of your silence to attack me. Couldn't be more of a Wooly move.

TJ pretty much stated he isn't coming.

And boy did he seemed F'in pissed off. Clearly wasn't anything to do with academics. I may be misunderstanding his post but he is placing a lot of blame on UCLA or others that could have influenced this decision. Anybody have any info on how ND would go about getting at UCLA(tampering) after all this is done.

If UCLA is pulling this with us, I can't imagine what **** they pull against USC. Not that I have any sympathy for USC.

Still doesn't really change the fact that you're a ****ing loser, go back to crying about Gunner Kiel I will get you a tissue if you need one.

I actually new about this first. I knew this for 4 years, yea all the way back when Eddie Vanderdoes was still in middle school. i would've warned everyone about it but I forgot while I was too busy trying to contact the white house about the impending economic collapse-- which I also predicted before hand.

It'd be a major recruiting violation. But like all recruiting violations, nothing can be done without evidence. And unless someone at UCLA was monumentally stupid (made calls from personal cell phone, sent emails, wrote letters, etc.), there won't be any evidence.

Gotta side w/ GB here too, I'm not near as connected as him but these rumors have been floating around for a while, wasnt worth posting until they were publicly confirmed by Sampson yesterday. It would have led to chaos w/ no answers and no substance if someone posted it earlier.

Posting it isn't the point. No one is disputing that he knew the rumor, but he clearly and literally posted yesterday that he thought that he would still end up here and is saying that he has known he wasn't coming for months today. It's a pretty clear lie.

Wooly listen I was told Saturday morning that and I quote " I am pretty sure he will show up"
When stories broke on Blue and Gold, ISD, and II it became apparent that he wasn't coming. More noise came last night. I don't give a **** if you believe me or not. I don't have to prove **** to you, block me if you don't want to read what I report. I thought he was coming as of yesterday when I woke up, hes not anymore. Thanks for coming out of hiding though because god damn did we miss you.

I am around Eddies age and this is what is wrong with guys my age....I don't know what Eddie is thinking but kids look to transfer for every little thing. Their parents bail them out for everything. Not just in college but in high school kids are already at their 3rd school by their senior year. Transferring is so common now I am not shocked at really anything. Also being The one Defensive tackle in the nation doesn't help your ego. Everything is handed to them

Can anything stop him from calling the UCLA coaches if he so chooses? Especially since he hasn't reported?

I'm going to try another look at our 2014 roster and see if I can soothe my nerves a little. My assumptions will be: no Nix, Tuitt, Vanderdoes, Schwenke, Stockton, Shembo. If that isn't correct, you will correct me. I'm also assuming that Utupo has a season of eligibility left --- maybe not true. I'm also assuming that Hounshell has a season left, and if we pray enough will be able to play.

So, what do Kelly, Diaco et al have to work with?

A). They have three capable "bigs" in Day, Springmann, and Hayes to date.
B). They have four "traditional" strong DEs in Rochell, Hounshell, Trumbetti, and Matuska [who may well surprise --- a "mean" player who was first team Ohio cannot be a chump].
C). They have four non-traditional lighter or speed DE candidates should they want to utilize them in Utupo, IWilliams, Okwara, and Rabasa.
D). They have the enigmatic Jarron Jones, who might have to play some NT whether he wants to or not, and a probably very hungry walk-on [Dickerson] with a year with Longo who WANTS to play.

Those players constitute thirteen working pieces possibly applicable to the DLine puzzle.

Additionally: We have DLine offers out to many players, all of whom have many "stars" next to their names. Imagining three of these players signing on NSD is not much of a fiction. That would give Diaco 16 possible pieces.

Additionally, though I think this much less likely, but Kelly DOES insist that he's recruiting "POWER" not OLine vs DLine: If somebody like Jamarco Jones wanted to come on board AND the other OLine superman whose name I forget, that makes "six" unless someone {Mustipher?} moves to DLine. Or would another more senior OLine {Montelus?} be movable?

None of those pieces are named "Tuitt" or "Nix", but they weren't going to be anyway. Maybe with the firepower listed above, Diaco just might field a team. ... three deep.

I was wondering the same thing. I think he needs written permission from Swarbrick to contact other programs. Can anyone confirm?

The fact he is playing for ND instead of GT is proof enough he listens to his mother and I would have to believe that listening to her on that particular matter has proven to Stephon that Mama knows BEST! If she doesn't want him leaving for the NFL after his junior season then I highly doubt he will. Yeah he could get injured but he could also improve his draft stock from #13 (or whatever) to #1 after his senior season. I feel like linemen sometimes need that extra year of conditioning and weight room and just knowing your position even better anyway.

Good point in the comments of an article from ONE FOOT DOWN:

"The 5-star kids that are transferring out are one’s that aren’t really confident in their decisions in the first place.
Kiel – comitted to IU, early enrolled at LSU
Lynch- committed to FSU and was close to early enrolling
Neal – was never committed to another school but supposedly wanted to go to OSU but they didn’t have space after how long he waited
Vanderdoes- former USC commit"

This is NOT a Notre Dame thing, it's a confused kid thing.

NDPhilly brought this up a page or so ago, but it warrants being brought up again.

TJ said that there NEVER was an academic issue and that EV decided that he doesn't want to be at ND anymore. He also suggested that he was encouraged "by certain others". He's really pissed at UCLA.

So he was being recruited even though he'd signed his LOI?

Idk if there is a rule for tampering if the recruit calls first probably because IT NEVER ****IN HAPPENS. Ugh this is why you don't wait till signing day to choose to. You have time to think about your decision if commit earlier.
