Wow. Him and Neal in the slots - dangerous. Can't wait to see it happen. Kid is a freak!

With Toma, Neal, and Russell at the Z, and our lack of depth at outside WR, I'd say Brown is all but a lock to start his career at the W or the X.

Just want to stress how incredibly sick a triple jump of 51-2.25 is in high school.... thats sick. Most people arent really familiar with track performances a whole lot- its crazy good. Based solely on that I know he is a great athlete. But he also has these track performance: 200m 21.90 High Jump 6'4 (not that great but it is a very technical event (aka lots of form)). He is really a top notch athlete. His agility really looks great too. Very excited about him for the next 4 years.
My favorite recuit.

Are those in feet? So 51 feet, 2.25 inches?

If so, then that is just outside of the top ten of all time. Especially close if it was done indoors.

He didn't hit the camp circuit with track is the reason he wasn't ranked higher. He has a lot of raw talent, and speed you can't teach. Body control in the air, and high pointing it is something that your natural at, and he is. Triple Jump has given him the edge as far as just controlling his body when its in the air.

I think he has the same questions as Davonte when it comes to getting on the field. Getting off the line will be the key physically and obviously picking up the playbook. Granted i think Davonte sees Sp Teams, but both will have to show that their lack of strength wont hinder them in the slot going against LBs/Safeties.

I thought Chris was the number one triple jumper? If not, I'm sure he will soon change that. haha

Bravo to Chris on his 40 feat!

33.5" according to ESPN.

I would have thought it would be better than that. I wonder where they got that from? I believe Michael Floyd had a 38 inch vertical out of high school, and he was a lot heavier than Chris, and frankly with Chris' sick triple jump, I thought he would be a bit more than that. Not that 33.5 is bad or anything. It's pretty good, just not as good as I expected.

Id bet its in the high 30s. Not sure how accurate that is. Davaris said that he ran a 4.41 and had a 41 inch vert last spring I believe

Above 30 is real good. Upper 30s is REAL good. 40+ are just straight elite.

In my, and most HS track followers, Chris is the No. 1. triple jumper. Brown did get upset at Nationals last year and got 2nd (i think by a quarter of an inch), may be a reason he was ranked 2nd.
TP raises the ket point, I think- getting off the line. If he can learn to do this well, he will be great, IMO. I think a vertical threat may really help with this. Hopefully Eifert or someone else will really stretch the field (and hopefully the QB can get it to them).

His triple jump could probably qualify for the Olympics most years. So I was just surprised that his vertical was just good and not elite. Just seemed like it might be inaccurate because if his triple jump is confirmed and elite.

Its very possible his vertical is better. I wouldn't put too much stock in the ESPN numbers. They prob came from some junior combine. They also have his shuttle time as 4.48. I'm not sure its possible to run a 4.35 forty with that slow of a shuttle time.

Yeah, with his size and leaping ability that's probably a great idea. He's just a well rounded great receiver prospect. I know all the stuff, injury, camps, etc... but man, how did this slip thru the cracks? Love it. Can't wait to see him.

Went back and looked at his tape. The thing that really stood out to me is that Chris is definitely used to going up for balls. His qb had a terrible arm and just hucked balls up for chris to come down with. It will be cool to see what he can do when he is getting balls that hit him in stride.

Depends on who is throwing them. Substitute Mike for Chris...

That very subject killed a few digital trees around here...

Are you serious?

Shuttle times measure quickness and initial burst. They are usually much lower than forty times. Elite shuttle times can be under 4.0. I guess it could very well be possible, but it would mean Brown doesn't have much quickness/acceleration and is just purely fast.

What the **** is "mane"

'Mane' is a lot like 'mang.'

I quite often say the latter because of one of my favorite bands, Ween.

Unrelated, but I seriously can't wait to see ND players coming out with those facemasks next season. Paired with a dark visor, it would be one of the most intimidating things ever.

Damn. Well it still looks awesome.

High-school and pee-wee leagues prohibit all but clear visors. This rule was enacted so that training staff and coaches can easily view a player's face and eyes in the case of a serious injury, to discern if the player is conscious.[citation needed] The NCAA banned the use of tinted visors for the same reason, and the NFL has followed suit as well. However, players with eye problems may still obtain special permission to wear tinted visors, some notable examples being LaDanian Tomlinson and Chris Canty.[6]

Even in the NCAA you can get special permission and note from eye doctor...atleast you could back in '02 when I got mine.
