This was my point the other day; nobody knew what was going on. So why make meaningless conjecture, based upon your own bad mojo? I would like to apologies for the negative turn of this thread, and offer my humble condolences for the two great losses your family has suffered in the last few weeks.

Can anyone understand the character that this family has exhibited in this tragic time when every media outlet was castigating the Neal family for the events of that day? No one from the Neal family said boo defending themselves. Now that is stoicism with a great nutsack if I ever saw it. (Thanks ChIrish, TT, Graham, GB and all of you who showed honor and reserve that day, and anyone else I forgot.)

Let's see it went something like this, back in the day when I was in the service: "Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out."

Great post!!! You are very correct. Nobody knew what happened the other day and so many people were blasting the Neal's without having the facts. I have even more respect for this young man and his family. May god bless his family and may he give them comfort during this tough time. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.

God's Blessings to the entire Neal family. Notre Dame's family has some great praying and supportive people. You will all be embraced closer into that spiritual support as our relationship goes. I offer my own evening prayers for you as one of the tokens of this. Best of everything... especially inner strength.

I'll never be happy with that spineless, limp-dicked, asswipe. How does everyone else feel?

I concur. Just another example of shoddy journalism from the "twitter mafia."

Condolences to the family, feel terrible for the Neals.

Imagine how the production of players like TJ Jones, Riddick, hell even Eifert will jump when there's a legit QB throwing to them. And this will only open up the running game. I'm beyond excited.

Tommy Rees completed 65.5% of his passes, this past year. Even though he had other issues, he hardly retarded Jone's and Riddick's numbers. I would not expect huge jumps from them, no matter who is playing QB. Logic dictates that their numbers will increase, in the absence of Floyd. But I'm not expecting huge things out of either of them.

Completely agree. And yeah, I couldn't believe how that one reporter jumped all over him.

Let's not forget - even after knowing what the emergency is, Davonte wants to go to the school and go from class to class to apologize. Class all the way.

That's a good point, I guess I just have the image of poorly thrown balls stuck in my head. I feel like Rees was great on the short passes, but you're right - the production of either leaves something to be desired regardless of who is quarterback. Let's hope that with the added talent on the roster it pushes these guys to make some plays.

I would like to see a weighted average of the throws to & completion percentages between Floyd & Eifert and Jones & Riddick to get to 65%. He could never hit either of those guys.

However, I will add that I don't think either of them is a game changer at WR. Toma is/was more effective

Its tough to say because neither one got a fair look from Reese. The looks were at Floyd and Eifert for the majority of the passes. It seemed to me from watching this past season that Jones in particular got himself wide-open frequently but was never even looked at. I hope your wrong about them, because we need Riddick and Jones to step up as major offensive threats this year.

That's, uh, quite a disparity.

This doc your dirty work?

This is from the OP of a thread I started to share this data.

Bill Connelly of SBNation/ Football Outsiders has compiled all of the "Target & Catch" data for the 2011 CFB season here. I pulled out the data for ND's WRs and put it in a separate spreadsheet, which can be found here.

Most of the categories should be self explanatory. Orange columns are for passing downs, which are defined as 2nd down with 8 or more yards to go, or 3rd/4th down with 5 or more yards to go. Yellow columns are for standard downs, which are all other downs. SD% represents how often a player was targeted on standard downs.

Tommy's ball placement was an issue with me. How many times did Tyler/Floyd/TJ catch a pass way over their head, wrong should, wrong hip by Tommy. I watched every game at least 2 times and watched Tommy throw all over the place. I truly believe his 65% reception rate was way helped out by great hands of the 3 I mentioned. I just got sick of the 6 TD's and 13 Turnovers against good teams, and then watching him throw into double coverage constantly, then the guys makeup for Tommys ball placement.

Sorry, I don't think Tommy is a Good QB at all.

All one has to to is look at his 196ish Yards per game, with those great 6 TDS and 13 Turnovers against good defenses. And his only 300 yard passing game against a good team was Michigan. And his wonderful only win against a good team was Michigan State and he had 1 TD and 2 Turnovers. The flipping defense and GAIII won that game.

I am so done with Tommy at QB, there is no defense for him anymore in my opinion. Ok, if we play Maryland, Wake, Navy, etc he is fine. Just don't put him up against good teams he turns it over at an epic rate. Gotta love him almost single handedly losing the bowl game for us with his great accuracy while throwing ints in the end zone. Gotta love that 65%!!!!
