In '09 we lost 6 games by an avg. of 4.6 points... Ouch
Clausen out this week with concussion. Sucks for Jimmy.
A few things on that play:
1. Man did Jimmy take a shot. I was watching it live, and to me, it was pretty clear he got nailed in the head. Then when you watched the replay, it only further confirmed that it was a nasty, dirty hit.
2. Why are the refs so inept? Isn't there an official up in the booth who would look at the replay and tell the field refs they need to review to see if there was targeting? The NFL is fukin clueless. That play looked like a text book scenario as to when a player should be ejected for an illegal blow to the head. How the hell did they miss that one?
3. I was shocked the Bears staff didn't pull Clausen from the field after that hit. He may have popped right up to yell at Ziggy, but there's no way he wasn't a little rattled from that.
4. I almost forgot. If that was Tom Brady, Ansah would not only have been ejected, but he would be suspended.
A new Brady rule. Any helmet-to-helmet hit on a QB while scrambling results in automatic retirement for the defender.
The coaches probably assumed JC was fine since he popped right up. He certainly didn't seem woozy at the time. I saw Schefter tweeted that JC didn't have symptoms until after the game, and didn't think he was concussed until Sunday night, so who knows if testing on the sideline would've done much good.
thats nuts...i've seen it take 10 or 15 minutes for someone to kinda start acting funny or puke...but I've never heard of that big a delay...Jimmy's adrenaline must have been SCREAMING...crazy.

True, but those losses were to:
Michigan (5-7)
USC (9-4)
Navy (10-4 but it's Navy)
Pitt (10-3 and that game was rather lopsided until Tate got them back into it)
UConn (8-5)
Stanford (8-5)
Of those, only really USC and Pitt were true quality losses. Navy had a good year, but they were still Navy. UConn was an average Big East team, though playing with heavy hearts, Stanford was meh, and Gerhart tore ND's defense to shreds. Not to mention, Tate f*cking Forcier.
The independent trainer looked at Clausen after the hit and after the game and said that he didn't show any concussion signs. It wasn't till Sunday night that he said he started feeling symptoms. I was surprised he got up from that too.

How many of our five this year were true quality losses?
USC and that's it.
Not FSU?
Not FSU?
The sad part is we were in every game this year except for USC. We easily could have gone 11-1 in the regular season, but it went 7-5 instead.
Rumored to be getting the start against Seattle
(oh, and with total 20/20 hindsight: would we have rather have had Jimmy for one more year in 2010, or Dayne Crist for 3??)
Ouch, he may not survive the first half vs Seahawks.
