What happened to the academic support that our football players are supposed to have?
So is ND a microcosm of America?
What happened to the academic support that our football players are supposed to have?
After convincing myself this isn't a big deal, I see this thread persuaded a guy to post for the SECOND time in FIVE YEARS. Guess it is a big deal afterall.....
I don't know how smart he is or anything else but theres a difference between getting some help and beinf stupid. not say this is the case though
Good luck to the kid!
Can someone confirm if he will be considered a transfer and if ND could block certain schools (USC)? Thanks in advance!
I'm not panicking yet nor does one recruiting class make a trend but I do hope ND (BK) revisits what happened this year (and 2011) with the decommits and questions if his recruiting strategy needs some adjustments.
Yeah, blocking him from USC is just classless. If he doesn't want to be at ND, then I don't care where he goes. Best of luck to him.
I can understand where you're coming from, Class doesn't win football games however.
But it did get us Amir Carlisle. I'm sure you were opposed to that too, right?
I think we are all still trying to recover from the bad news. If it makes you feel better to try and start internet p*****g wars with fellow Irish fans fantastic. Carlisle and Prestwood are both great additions, they don't make up for the loss of Tee, Greenberry, Darby, Decker, Perkins, and Standifer. Notre Dame will move on unquestionably, they just have to adjust the game plan accordingly.
my exact thoughts! It's no pissing war, it is just pointing out you can't have your cake and eat it too. Simply can't rejoice when USC (Haden) show the class to allow Amir to transfer to a school he wanted to go even if it is an archrival, and then critize the potential of ND letting Tee do the same, especially when many fans of ND like to extoll the lack of class they believe (rightly or wrongly) USC displays in general.
When you say "trying to recover from the bad news", don't you think there is a little too much invested in the trials and tribulations of 17 and 18 year olds who have never even played a down at Notre Dame? I am as diehard of a ND football find as you will find, but sometimes I think many of us lose our heads. When did being a fan mean constantly losing a sense of reason, boundaries, or even right vs. wrong? (see that absurd ND tweeter). I wish we all could take a step back everyonce and a while and try and keep things in perspective.
Was Tee a very talented prospect and person who could have helped ND at a position of need? Of course. But I believe in rooting for the coach and the program, hoping that the strength of 11 next men in will overcome these "losses" when they occur. For every Tee Shepard, Deontay Greenberry and Ronald there is a Chris Stewart, Harrison Smith, Manti Teo, etc - kids who really want to be at ND, give it there all and succeed for us on and off the field. I would much rather root for the kids that we have each Saturday than let my life and happiness determined by emotionally charged decisions (don't know if the case here) of teenagers.
P.S. Didn't want to mention it but couldn't resist - Standifer, Perkins, and even Decker to a degree weren't "losses". Agree to disagree on those.
Hard to be SUPER upset about a kid who never even made it to a real practice.
The guys playing this upcoming year were those guys backups... Thats how it can get worse than that
Some rumors floating that it wasn't academic issues it was personal. There is still a real chance he returns to ND.
it doesn't sound like a scenario that would completely eliminate the chance of him being back at Notre Dame
Not considering the he is not enrolled anymore. And this puts him that much futher behind in the classroom and on the field.
Really? He is no more far behind than the other recruits who have not enrolled yet.
