He's also capable of being an "athlete" if QB doesn't work out. Really hope we get either him or Alviti for some depth... would've had Alviti already if Gunner hadn't committed but I can't complain :)

If Bailey comes here he will be a QB. I think we will take a QB this cycle wheter is Zaire or Bailey. I think Gunner scared off Alviti. I dont see Alviti coming here because he isn't coming to a junior day which is a little surprising to me.

Will visit around the 11th.

Again we have a chance to make a serious impression. He likes ND early.

I like the fact that he's going to be getting the complete attention of the staff since he's not visiting on a jr day

Considering last year's QB situation and the fact we have Golson with 4 years, and Gunner with 5, I'd be surprised if any of the offered QBs ended up at ND. If any, Alviti just because of his love for ND. I'd like to get one though as I think we're in for a transfer. If Golson is not sitting in the 2 deep, he gone. Tommy likely the same. Not wishing any of them gone, but Hendrix is the only one IMO that would stay without significant PT. If Gunner should crack the 2 deep, all hell could break lose.

I love ND, but If I were a high school QB and see the cluster F that's about to happen with our QBs, I'd probably look elsewhere.

Au contraire, almost every single school brings in a QB per year. So our situation is nothing unique, the only thing "unique" is that Gunner Kiel is a 5:s: and most schools don't have 5:s: players. But it should also be noted that at least one of Everett Golson and Gunner Kiel is likely (not guaranteed, but likely) to transfer eventually. That's just a fact... whoever eventually gets the nod as QB of the future either this year or next year probably means that the other guy is going to luck for an option to play somewhere else

I'd be very surprised if we did not take a QB this year. And someone like Bailey who also has the athletic traits to play other positions would be perfect. I think we get one of Zaire, Bailey and Alviti. Gunner clearly scared off Alviti... but I think Alviti is waiting to see how the QB situation plays out and if Golson is tabbed the starter/Gunner transfers you could easily see him pick the Irish with the potential of being a 2 year starter.

Just my humble opinion.

I agree with you Lax...

I believe we do need a QB this year because of my vision of things to come...

1. Rees realizes he will never play again and transfers after being option 4 by year end

2.Golson starts struggles a bit but improves over the year and Hendrix comes in with some packages.

3. Whom ever loses the battle between Golson/Kiel transfers ( I would hate this)

4.The QB picture at that time finally becomes clear. Kiel or Golson for 3-4 years with Hendrix backup.

5. Need to groom another stud that takes over when Kiel or Golson get drafted and for depth at that point.

I agree. I dont know of another shcool who has done so much less with so much talent at the QB position. I can't help but think about how well our last 2 5* QBs have fared.....

Top 5:
Illinois, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State and Wisconsin

So much for that ND hype that was out there.

Well in that case I'm not too worried about a supposed top 5.

Are you kidding? One was a 3 year starter, very proficient in college, left early for the NFL, and was a 2nd round pick. The other had two devastating knee injuries.

Of our last 3 starting QBs (Quinn, Clausen, Crist) two were picked in the top 2 rounds and 1 had horrible injury luck. Some of the lack of perspective in this thread is astounding.

Agreed Quinn and Clausen were very solid college QBs, personally I think Quinn could be an average QB for a decent NFL team if given the chance. Clausen never had a defense at ND to back him up.

This happens for everyone's junior day, especially when you're recruiting nationally.

Exactly. (I was waiting for one of those posts to show up.) This happens every year, and you'll hear a few more names drop out as well before Saturday. You might hear a few more names pop up as well.

At least the weather will be good...in past year's we've lost a lot of players due to the weather being so bad and players not being able to make the drive.

When you hear more names drop out, relax. A lot of those guys get excited when they talk to reporters and they say they'll be hear, and then their parents tell them something completely different. Or they're just telling reporters what they want to hear. Happens every year...

Sorry if I sounded not relaxed...I should have put it in Italics. I understand its a long season. Believe me i many more things to get worked up over other than this lol : ) Does anyone have an updated list on who is actually coming...I know some new names have come up that were on the Visitors thread.

Personally, the more attention we can give to the kids who are serious and do make the trip the better!

Yeah it's a good point to make. I mean, the benefit of getting a ton of kids on campus is great, but I'd almost rather take a few less and allow the staff more time to focus on them instead.

Hope Aaron succeeds but

Say hello to obscurity, Illinois athletic program is horrible right now.

Maybe he feels like he can help turn a program around. I like that kind of leader!

New QB with new coach. They could being it to mid range Big 10. Not sure they will ever pass OSU, UM, MSU, Wisconsin, PSU or Nebraska.
