Some interpret Luke Neal's comments about Davonte's cousin's memorial service to being negative towards the chances of him choosing ND, but I disagree. The comments actually encouraged me he would attend ND when I read it initially. Unfortunately I've had to go through nearly the same situation he and his family are going through, and because of those experiences I'm more aware of Who my Sunday mornings should belong to. Of his final choices, what university would offer the best opportunities for Davonte to have this? Maybe that's what is most important to him as well, and for Luke to have for his son right now. I may be wrong and I'm sure many disagree, but that's what I got from it.

I would agree that the comments tend to make me think he goes to Notre Dame as well. A kind of...take life by he horns, live your life to the fullest and dont look back analogy.

I hope Davonte, like many of the recruits, understands that winning and being a star at Notre Dame is really like nowhere else because of the history and fanbase of the program and the historical pedestal a championship winning team at Notre Dame would be put on. Davonte has a chance to be part of something really special and I hope he takes that opportunity.

Well, I've endured my share of personal tragedies ...

I don't think that an epiphany is coming to the conclusion to keep oneself in a secure, stable enviorment. An epiphany would be more like taking a chance, putting fear aside (leaving home that young is a very scarey ordeal), and living life the way you want to because of how short it is, and it can be taken away in an instant ....

I have no idea where Davonte will spend his college years. I hope that it's ND. My parents (and as a result I and my siblings – there were five of us) saw a value in the experiences that come with living a distance from home. We lived in Orlando, FL. My brother, the oldest, attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. My older and younger sister attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. I attended ND. My twin sister attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO for two years and then Syracuse for two to get her degree.

We all benefitted from the experience and have friends spread far and wide. When possible, I encourage young people to spread their wings and test their mettle by attending a college a healthy distance from home.

Hell, the driving force behind my decision to move off campus was that I felt too coddled by having food provided at the dinning hall, weekly laundry service and maids to empty my trash can and change the sheets on bed. I wanted to learn not only academics, but living life.

I don't remember which site I read it on, but supposedly the schools were to be told on Friday where Neal would go. So, people should know!

I doubt that this is the case. Seems like more message board fluff.
The way that the Neal family has handled it clearly tells us that they aren't telling ANYONE.
I even doubt that Luke knows what Davonte's decision is yet in all honesty. They are handling this with pure class. I am a huge fan of how this is being handled and will certainly cheer for Davonte regardless of where he goes!

Tuesday will come soon enough my friends.

I see what your saying, but that cant be true. There is apparently legitimacy behind the rumor that he has already informed the school he will be attending, but Luke definitely knows. I mean, what father doesn't know something like this, only three days away from the announcement.

Why would they tell anyone now... It would lose hype, it doesnt really effect any of the schools either way at this point in the 2012 recruiting class, and it has a MUCH bigger chance of getting leaked... Tuesday just needs to come already!

TT never said he was sure it was ND brotha.

Simma Donna.

I am aware that TT did not say it was ND. He is referring to the fact that the Neals notified Davonte's school of choice.
I personally think he attends Arizona as I mentioned pages back.

I'm a fan of the kid and how he is handling the situation.

I for one, think Davonte is most certainly Irish; I would be willing to wager my honor on it.

;)

But it's just a hunch. I felt this way about Perkins too. Prior to his decommit.

When is this guy supposed to announce or is there no date yet? I havent been following much

Seems like sans looking at a thread that compiles all the probable destinations for our prospects that we could update the first post with something relevent like, "will announce at his elementary school on Tues. 2/21". Unique situation. Scratches head.

I would expect reporters to start trying to "break" the story this evening. Should get interesting with just over 24 hours to go.

UA football: Arizona's odds improving as Neal's college decision looms

The Davonte Neal sweepstakes are wrapping up and, given how far the Arizona Wildcats have come in recent months, they have to like their chances.

The Scottsdale Chaparral star will choose his college Tuesday at 9 a.m., capping a months-long, glacier-slow recruiting process. The wide receiver/cornerback prospect has already narrowed his finalists to Arizona, Arkansas, Notre Dame and North Carolina. He canceled a scheduled official visit to Tucson earlier this month because of a family issue; Neal's younger cousin, who was hospitalized at the time, eventually died.

Neal's father, Luke, told The Arizona Republic's Richard Obert last week that the death helped his son simplify a once-complicated decision.

"He's had time to think, reflect on what has happened to him. Having played football in Arizona, he had time to think whether he wants to stay in Arizona or leave Arizona," Luke Neal said. "He put it in more perspective on what's best for him."

A BleacherReport.com story lists Arizona's odds of landing Neal at 30 percent, ahead of Notre Dame (25 percent), North Carolina (25 percent) and Arkansas (20 percent).

However, National Football Post's Dion Caputi reported Sunday night that Neal "sounds for sure" headed to Notre Dame. He did not cite sources.

The Neals have reportedly already told Davonte's new coaches where he's going, but have sworn them to secrecy. Neal's best friends, including UA commits Cody Ippolito and Dylan Cozens, reportedly won't learn his decision until he announces it Tuesday.

Neal would instantly boost an Arizona recruiting class that's been rated among the worst in the Pac-12 Conference. The UA signed just one four-star recruit, linebacker Dakota Conwell, on national letter-of-intent day Feb. 1. The Scout.com recruiting service lists Neal as a four-star recruit and the nation's fifth best cornerback prospect. He's reimains the country's best remaining undecided prospect.

Neal's decision will be webcast live on www.foxsportsarizona.com; check Starnet Tuesday morning and read Wednesday's Arizona Daily Star for more.

Ha!

If the best AZ lean quote an Arizona based newspaper could come up with, comes from Bleacher Report... then I like our chances.

I'm sure this was answered earlier, but is there going to be any video of the announcement? Or does he have an announcement time set?

The article says 9 a.m. So my guess would be noon eastern time if the article is correct.

so 10:00 central? I am hoping this is not a long drawn out process, I am excited about the announcement because I think we have a good shot at landing him, but I dont want to waste 30 minutes of my time watching an 18 year old make a decision...
