Scout dropped him 11 slots to #14 OG, and took away a star down to 3 Stars.

How good is this kid? I see he was ranked high by Scout as a top notch guard but ESPN and i think Rivals has him very low...so it's hard for me to get a read his talent.....so is he a big help to the line or is he just another body????

He's a big bodied guard. Road grader. Plays real weak competition in CT so its hard to gauge him.

It'll help facing off against Nix and our other talented d-linemen every day.

If that doesn't prepare him then I don't know what will.

In my opinion if a bit harder to gauge an offensive lineman compared to other positions because it comes down to hunger and competitiveness. There are plenty of WR's or RB's who are just fast as hell with minimal training, but an OL needs to be committed to strength training and more important--have the will to destroy his opponent.

He will be a project for sure...guards are not asked to do a ton in this spread offense. Move ur feet and get push, he will get experience and gotta believe Coach Warriner and Longo will get em ready to go by 2012.

Good question. Terry mentioned the competition (he's from CT not a football powerhouse). He also committed early which doesn't result in tons of offers. (But he did get offers from Iowa, WIS, CAL, FSU, Stanford, Clemson and BC.)

He also didn't go to combines and I don't recall him at any the All Star games so he wasn't getting eyeballed by the recruiting services or showing his stuff against the big dawgs. Those are two of the best way to rise in the rankings.

I think Scout had him originally as a high ranked OT than he was their #1 OG but I never understood the basis for those evaluations. He has a football pedigree with a dad that QBed ND to a NC in the Game of the Century. But those "genes" don't seem applicable as Conor isn't throwing passes he's a road grader.

I suspect he's a Duncan type that will contribute as an upperclassman and may be a late starter. Longo, Warinner, and Conor's attitude may combine to make it happen sooner.

Conor's attitude is the key in that statement.

Great point about the competition. Not too many big timers coming out of that region.

Last big timer from New England I can remember is Aaron Hernandez (playing for the patriots)

It's true the competition isn't very good in the conference he plays in, the FCIAC. But, John Sullivan & Khari Fort are from the same area and played the same exact competition.

He is a big boy...I saw him play live this year. He seems like the type who will red shirt, be a backup gaurd his 2nd and 3rd season and become a started for his last two years. He remineds me of a Dan Santucci type.

Big and having a good attitude to "compete" will go a long way at the guard postion.

I think he could be a big time sleeper in this class. He's not very highly rated at 3 stars, but he's big and strong. He will only be turning 18 this upcoming August, so he is a bit younger than most of the players in this class so might have more potential for growth than some of the other guys.

Agreed, the only reason he dropped so much is because he was a AAAB invitee and turned it down. He played inferior competition and almost by default that means you get jumped unless you go to an all-star game and show you can play. At one point he was the #3 OG on Scout. Keep an eye on this kid.

He is also a full year younger than everyone else in this class, and is really the most physically underdeveloped (Muscle wise - he is just country strong right now) individuals we have had coming in. Once he matures a bit and spends some time with Longo he could be a real monster inside.

Some encouraging banter between Conor and Chase regarding the Center position (BTW, those 2 and Tony Springmann seem to have gotten real close since signing day. They talk about and play Call of Duty literally all the time together. Nice to see some early camaraderie.)

There's honestly so much I need to get better at. I shouldn't even leave the weight room.

Good stuff. I'm sure people feel this way about every class, but I think this whole class has a chance to do some special things together.

verrrrry interesting. Someone at least recognizes that it's the center position that is most in doubt projecting into the future [i.e. after Cave and Golic there's no one.] My crystal ball, which is never right, wondered if maybe Nick Martin might want to do this, but maybe it's Conor.

This means to me that Nick Martin has shifted to [primarily] tackle, almost certainly due to the Prestwood loss [Nichols too, but I'll bet Prestwood worried Kelly more].

Saw on the B/R feed that Hanratty has to undergo some sort of testing.

Is it structural like a knee or something internal and more serious?

.
