If he was drafted in the 18th round, there isn't much of a decision to be made. If he wants to play MLB, then he should play a year of college first. That's really a decision of "do you want to forego college to play triple-A ball in Pawtucket?"

If you dont go day one (rounds 1 or 2) or day 2 (comp rounds) you are better off goinig to college to try and improve your draft status.

The Sacramento Bee reports that Thompson — who was drafted under the name Shaq Green-Thompson — plans to sign with the Red Sox and play baseball this summer, but will still report to the UW late this summer to begin football workouts.

"I'm definitely playing football at Washington, but I'll report to baseball first," Thompson said. "I think this is great. I'm surprised. I thought I might get drafted, but much later."

As a Sox fan....I'm estatic. Scouts are saying Shaq is very intriguing for his defense, arm and speed. He is very raw at the plate, but hasn't played much.
