my sense is that TP got info tht the Armsteads were in. and maybe just maybe arik & co said they (due to tosh) were going to talk to one of their boys/Cal commits( i.e. shaq, payton, treggs) to try and get them to come also.
but alas....the ND Doctors couldnt/wouldnt clear Armond and in preventing Armond so too Arik.
had that scenario played out, could have been Armsteads +1 more to ND.

personally i always thought the ND Doctors would taker their time (read: after LOI day) to render an Armond decision after finding out Arik wasnt going to be an EE in hopes that could get arik in FIRST.

Is this the TurningPoint thread? Look, the thing with information is it is always subject to change and it can become dated literally minutes after it is learned. It's hard to know if that is what happened with TP's latest bit, but even if it is I really don't think he was saying stuff just to say it or to screw with anyone. Why would he bother doing that? If you guys can't handle a single piece of "intel" not panning out, (1) just wait until signing day to see who signed with ND or (2) just chill a little bit and don't get so bent out of shape if something goes awry, because in recruiting something always does.

I don't think its unreasonable to suggest inside info and if it goes another way then state that correction. No need to divulge sources at this point but if it were Rios then why can't TP state that the info he had is now changed... Considering we knew about Rios early today before lunch, and this topic has remained open with the source himself acknowledging it, then to me that suggests it wasn't Rios and there is still someone else, which in that case I understand the vow of silence.

This is unreal. There are literally hundreds of reasons why it might be a horrible idea "divulge" inside information/sources/etc. Scenarios include everything from "Lorenzo Booker" to betraying someone's confidence to the information itself being in flux to not wanting to tip the hand to etc. etc. etc... I mean come on guys... use some common sense. The reason inside info is not public info is because the parties involved don't want it to be such.

Further, I'm in the position to defend one of the things TP has been "called out" on, so I'm going to briefly. Through an odd series of events, the only person I've ever had "inside" info on is Arik... and TP is 100% correct with what he said earlier. Arik/Armond were ND complete locks for a window of time and then stuff didn't pan out. It sucks, but that's the way the cookie crumbles and you have to accept it and move on. TP is connected to the 2011 class of players and does get some inside info and most times for a myriad of reasons you can't or shouldn't spread inside info en masse before it becomes "public" info. This is the same reason why Mike Frank and Sapp and Wiltfong and Sampson and other guys often keep a tight lip on things even though they "know" because it comes down to integrity. And the appropriate thing to do is not to put a bunch of private information on blast to "scoop" a potential story.

Anyways, sorry to post this in Darby's thread... but sheesh. Cool it on the lynch mob.

There are only a few guys on here with anything but an opinion or a pay site subscription. They are the reasons that this site is worthwhile. No need to call people out because fluid information remains fluid. We should be grateful even if they are correct 50% of the time.

Back on topic, the Darby decommit makes me sad.

Back on topic.... this decommit is the one blemish on an otherwise near-perfect class. And because it came so late we whiffed on Rios because we slow-played him, slow-played Yuri Wright during the football season so we didn't lock him up and twitter gate thanks to jilted Michigan fans had time to happen, aren't going to flip Poole, and might not get Standifer because we got in late and he is trying to take an online language class last minute.

Just our friggin' luck. Can't wait to hear exactly what Cooks did wrong to botch this; or if there is a lot more to the story.
