Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I wasn't very impressed with him last night.

I didn't see a back that's going to get more carries than Cierre (his words, not mine).

I may get shot for this...however IMHO I would prefer to have Amir.

Well, I guess it depends on what Kelly wants to do with the offense going forward. If we are going to throw it as often as he's done with previous teams, then it would be nice to get Carlisle. But if we're going to run the ball like we did in the past four games, then it'd be great to get a large, powerful back like Huggins to replace Hughes (even though we have Roberson ready to go next year).

I too was not impressed with Savon last night. He would be a nice pick up for the Irish, but I am not jumping on the bandwagon that he should start over Cierre Wood. The way he looked last night if ND got him and didn't improve in the summer I'd redshirt Savon. Cierre will be our #1 back next year no matter who we end up with.

Gentlemen----don't let one game sway you. The offensive line was playing together for
2 or 3 days, the QB and Savon never saw each other before last week---lots can happen in an All-Star game that won't happen after weeks of practice. Huggins has it all,
don't let last night fool you.

I wasn't impressed by Savon either but let's give him a chance, that is, if he comes to ND.

Wow do I agree with you.

How can you possibly lambaste a kid for one poor performance at an exhibition game?

The manic-depression around here is astounding. (Not that I don't suffer from it as well at times.)

Yeah, but I was not impressed with his game tapes. I have a friend from the area that says St Pete's doesn't play the level of competition that say a Don Bosco does. Finally, I watched some of that UA game, and was impressed with how smarmy the whole thing was set up, they treated those kids like cattle, and the whole game was definitely 11 me first efforts. And, did anyone else notice that the announcer was quick to acknowlege all the Scum/Sec verbals, but never once mentiond that Daniels was an ND verbal?

Well, the game was on ESPN and ESPN has a contract to broadcast SEC Games......it doesn't take a detective to figure that one out.........they have a vested interest in promoting the SEC via this game.

And they also broadcast a bunch of big 10 games.....what's your point?

I am from the area, and I have to disagree with you about the competition they play. Don Bosco is in the stronger league, but St. Pete's plays some really tough teams in Hudson county. The kid is solid, and will be an asset to any team he plays for. I'm starting to think, that because he may not be Irish, many on this site are trying to make themselves feel better by saying he isn't as good as advertised. I have seen him play and he is as good as they say.

Many are kidding themselves if they discount Savon's talents. With that being said however, I like our chances with Amir more so than with Savon at this point. I just don't see us landing Savon (hope I am wrong, but highly doubt it).

I think we have to land Huggins know. With all the rumors out west with the possiblity that Harbough is staying don't look for Amir to come here.

I dont think that Huggins is a "must get" rather he would be a very nice pick up if we were to somehow land him. I like the running backs we have right now, and I think that Cam will be a nice surprise for us. If I had a choice in which running back we could get I think I would pick Amir over Huggins. They are both great backs, but I think Amir would fit our system nicely. Of course as you stated, we will have to wait and see what Harbaugh decides regarding Stanford.

I do think that Cam will be very good for us but we still don't have any back that can run over anyone. Cam is very fast i just don't think he is going to be able to run up the middle and punish people. We strong back when we are inside the 5 and need to run it in. We got stopped like 5 time s this year and had to settle for a FG. And since we don't have FB in this offense is a need of a power back.

All it took for Hughes to learn how to run hard was simply not giving him the ball until he learned how to...hopefully cam took note of this and works on lowering his pad level and being willing to be the guy to get us 3-4 tough yards every time he touches it and then maybe every once in awhile breaking the big one.

It's because he is probably not coming here, however, if he was high on ND only... You'd see more of the "one game, offensive line not gelled" stuff lol.

Yea a lot of peeps on here don't like our chances to land him so they are trying to convince themselves that he wasn't that good anyways.

alot of people on here talk crap about a kid who makes a choice that they don't agree with. if he feels like he's better going to another school then so be it. nd will just find a kid who wants to be here.

I went to St. Peter's and their schedule is fine. They actually play many of the teams that Bosco plays. Huggins is a good back and probably a really good kid. If he doesn't come to ND it doesn't make him bad in either area.

The only difference is Bosco travels to play teams in Penn, Ohio, Virginia, and even Cali, St. Peter's does not. Also Bosco plays the two other strongest programs in the area every year (being in the same league), Bergen Catholic and St. Joe's, while St. Peter's would only play them in the state playoffs. With that being said, I agree with you in that St. Peter's schedule is fine, not crazy competitive, but they aren't playing creampuffs either, especially when they get to the state playoffs.

They played St. Joe's Prep from Philly and Wyoming Seminary from PA and Friendship Academy from Maryland this year. They also played St. Joe's Montvale before the playoffs this year.

I disagree here, even if Savon would've already given us his verbal I'd still say that I wasn't impressed with his game.
