Apple just lost a few billions on a deal with sharp and turned to LG, which has no guaranties. They are also feeling the pressure by Samsung. It's going to be interesting to see what happens without Jobs at the helm... Sorry for getting away from Armstead... Back to him.

That may be true... But per Harvey Updike..."those trees are going to die" - the rivalry between Bama and Auburn is off the charts and if you are not from the deep south - you have no idea what you are walking into...

As far as college towns and talent (of the female variety) go, I'd put Auburn in damn near 14th place in the SEC. No, I'll place them in 13th-- ahead of Starkville. If I really want to go to an SEC school, then I'd pick at least Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, and Alabama all ahead of Auburn. I'd put Missouri (I've admittedly never been to Colombia, but heard it's a pretty good town) and Mississippi State at or on par with Auburn...when it comes to towns and chicks.

Funny how there were more reports while Guys and Armond were flying than there are now that they are on planet earth. Can't wait to hear something tonight or tomorrow.

Never been to Auburn but Columbia is more like a Big Ten town than most of the SEC towns tend to be. Leafy, collegiate, that sort of thing. Pretty much the only place in Missouri between St. Louis and KC that's worth living in. Auburn may have the edge on chicks, though.

I find that Occam's Razor is most useful when information is scarcest. Auburn's theory on why Arik hasn't committed yet-- that he really wants to go to Auburn but has to wait on Armond's waiver-- contradicts what little we do know; most notably that Armond hasn't even applied for the waiver yet. The simpler and more obvious explanation-- that Arik's "Plan A" (Cal) has been foiled, so he now needs a little time to regroup with his family-- sounds much more plausible to me.

It's like what Lenin said about Auburn fans... you look for the person who will benefit, and uh, uh...

Who was wearing their pajamas, Walter?

You take that back! Half my family is from Marshall, MO.

(Ok, who am I kidding? My dad used to call the state "Misery" whenever we'd go visit the middle of nowhere for Christmas).

This one is disappointing, it seemed like a slam dunk yesterday, after the news Tosh left Cal and Armond enjoyed his visit to ND you could connect the dots that ND was the choice, the fact this is dragging on tells me that ND isn't his decision and he is coming up with a Plan B........bummer, hope I am wrong.

Powerhour seems to think he is deciding tomorrow. How would it be dragging on? Armond and their dad got home today.

not necessarily, if anything, it is evident that Notre Dame was his Plan B and that Cal was his first choice, now he has to really think if the coach that recruited him is leaving is bigger than the University he wanted to attend (Cal). although, I do think the longer it drags on the less likely we are to be his choice. I think Armond wants Notre Dame and if they decide to announce in the next 48 hours, I consider ND to be the favorite!

I feel like everyone here convinced themselves (with some help from some "sources" elsewhere) that the decision was imminent, and now that there hasn't been a decision yet they have convinced themselves that something has gone horribly wrong. The Armsteads never promised anyone a decision at a certain time, and even if they did, none of us have the slightest idea about what is "holding them up". They'll announce a decision when they feel like it. Maybe that is never; they'll just show up to school like Gunner.

Peoples' tendency to get anxious and restless because they don't have any new grist for the proverbial recruiting mill is annoying enough, but in this case many of you are getting anxious and restless because YOU decided that Armstead's announcement was imminent, and it hasn't happened yet.

I don't know what is going to happen here. Maybe they end up at Auburn. But I think it is a major stretch to read anything (good or bad) into the timing of the announcement based on the little that we know. We literally have *no clue* what is going on with the Armstead family right now. I think we have to like where we're at and be confident we put our best foot forward in this situation, and be content to let the chips fall where they may.

People will find a way to spin anything into a negative. The family needs to be 100% sure they're making the right decision. He'll probably decide in the next day or two which is fine.

We have been pumped full of awesome recruiting news over the past couple of days, so naturally we are expecting more awesome news. Now that we have to wait a day or two people freak out. Hang in there gents.

Update from Auburn guy, 20 minutes ago:

As of tonight he's 100% undecided.

15 minutes ago:

As of today, Armond has not petitioned the SEC for a waiver. It's still not a given they will play together next year although they would prefer to.

*Every single Auburn poster at 247 is convinced Arik wants to go to Auburn and Armond likes ND and that's where the block is.

Love Columbia. The female students are quite nice, I laid carpet (no, literally) in their dorms and football stadium press boxes back in 2000. Lots of eye candy. Great town.

dragging on in a relative term......as in the longer this takes the less likely I think the decision is ND, if Plan A was Cal and Plan B was ND.......why are we even waiting? Why wouldn't you just take Plan B.......I get it is a HUGE decision and you need to take your time but by process of elimination.........Plan A is not an option, why isn't Plan B the choice? What is the sticking point?

I want answers........I WANT THE TRUTH.......;)

like I said, he may be questioning whether the recruiter leaving is enough to drop Plan A for Plan B. However, Auburn seems to be getting more attention lately on the Arik side of the things, maybe the brothers were set on Cal but each of them had different Plan B's (Armond had Notre Dame and Arik had Auburn)

Arik might not have had a clear Plan B. It's not like Cal's meltdown was reasonably foreseeable.

Gus and Armond just got back home today. It shouldn't surprise anyone that Arik needs a day or two to consult with his family and decide what his best course of action is now that Cal is out.

If the weekend comes and goes without a commitment, you should start to worry. But not yet.

Son, we live in a world that has recruits, and those recruits have to be guarded by men with charisma. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. condoms SUCK? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for LSU, and you curse the Fighting Irish. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That LSU's loss, while tragic, probably saved our recruiting class. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, brings in talent. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that recruit, you need me on that recruit. We use words like 5 star, playing time, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a season spent defending our name. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very recruiting that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a telephone, and start recruiting. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.
:)
