thats a disgusting amount of people...that has to be a record
that still stands

It's an unofficial number, so it's not technically the record. Michael Steele claims in The Notre Dame Football Encyclopedia that it could have been as many as 135,000. People were climbing up on ladders to see the action.

Don't change though, Lane. We like you just the way you are. :) lol

Billy Joel- Just the Way You Are - YouTube

I should add that I detest this song. The trite, syrupy sweet lyrics kill whatever draw the instrumental passages hold. I've been a crusty, crabby cynic for decades.

Not to wish ill on anyone, but I expect Kiffy and krewe to run into a wall of pain this Saturday ... much like the migraine headache I'm dealing with as I type.

Billy Joel is awesome. And I hope you get rid of that pesky migraine!

I'm being lazy here and maybe this was said in another thread so I apologize, however, when was the last time ND was favored over USC and the last time they were at least 8.5 point favorites?

Curtis McNeal who will most likely start for USC is listed as 5'7 and 180 lbs. Lane Kiffin has said "Every time he has in a scrimmage or something like that, he’s gotten banged up. He’s proven to me that he’s trying, but his body hasn’t allowed him to at full speed yet.”

This may turn into a 40-45 pass attempt performance by Barkley, especially if we get up big, early.

solo coverage

solo coverage

Barkley is going to throw to whoever is in solo coverage as he did in the Cal game throwing long to Lee. So I do not believe Blanton should be part of the double covering of Woods but being our best cover man he should cover the receiver who they solo cover. If Lee is healthy he will beat Gray long I am afraid.

Anyone up for a repeat of that '66 game? What a demolition. And holy shit at how crazy the crowd was in '73!

Thanks for posting, Riddickulous.

FWIW Vegas has us at -7.5 or 8 depending on the book.
They have been very bullish with their projections for this Irish team all year, and more often then not they are dead on.

I just feel we have to score every possession keep the momentum and keep the crowd loud thru 4 qrts.. not 2...

i really feel like our defensive line should get to barkley well. we messed with cousins from Mst. pretty good and he's a better passer than barkley...... pound the run keep the QB throwing fast or throwing those big hands up...

Offensive keys to victory....no turnovers score every possession balance we have possibly 6/7 offensive weapons and they all are prime time guys lets get the ball to them and enjoy the game....Tommy is cool and has been very sharp these last 4 games i feel like he's our QB that takes us to victory

.... go irish beat usc...

The only way we coiuld score every possession is if Tommy Rees plays well. Even if we dont score every possession we should score 24+

Cousins is not a better passer than Barkley, but Michigan State's line is better than USC's.

bhardin2 via Twitter:

Most underrated position group in CFB? OL. 7th in nation in yards/carry & 14th in sacks/game. On pace for ND records in both.

From the "You gotta be kidding me dept." Tommy Rees has a higher career passer rating than Clausen, Theismann, Powlus & Quinn.

yep Tommy is cool and knows to scan the his options or throw it away now.... As many games i've seen him play he looks real good man... He took his chance and earned his spot thats a QB...

I watched the USC CAL and barkley with pressure blew a bunch of plays....
Now Mst. M not a good defense but got pressure and cousins was nailing every reciever in the chest they turned th ball over on fumbles twice and dropped 4 easy catches..

Cousins is not a better passer than Barkely and Barkely has much better recievers.

In my opinion, this game comes down to the running game on both sides. If our OL can impose their will, we dominate the clock and the game. If we keep Tyler or McNeal contained with 7 in the box, we dominate. I just feel like ND has to much to play for in this game. Can Tommy handle the pressure? Should be fun to watch.
