Jus ran into Mizzou QB coach and another guy at Subway here in town. They are in to see DGB. I have heard in the past that Mizzou big recruiter is the QB coach. He landed Blaine Gabbert and Chase Daniel when most people expected them to go elsewhere.

Thought I would share

I don't want to be "that" guy, but....Blaine Gabbert was recruited by Cornell Ford. He is the cornerbacks coach. He also landed Jeremy Maclin.

I thought Ford switched from the STL area? Maybe not. I don't consider people, "That Guy" around here. It is a forum full of knowledge my friend.

I work right up the road from his school and the first place to get some food around here is litteraally right next door to my work. Odds are I will see several coaches coming thruogh. Waiting for the day I can run into BK.

Time to make up for not getting Moss back in the day?

Moss was/is one helluva gifted athlete. Lou wanted him and "had" him. He's been one helluva washout as a human being, though. He would never have made it through ND. The admissions folks rightfully denied him a spot in the student body.

Hell, even Bobby Bowden and FSU bounced his ***.

Moss "thanked" Marshall University for putting up with him by tearing off his jersey after losing their bowl game to signify that it was over at Marshall. Walked at the cameras with his scowl on and a naked chest. Real classy dude.

DG-B is not Moss.

I personally hope we can secure this kid, as unlikely as it may be.

He's elite.

Gentleman, let me make it clear, I only meant it's time we make up for the loss in athletic ability and definitely not the personality.

I didn't intend to link Moss to Green in any way, shape or form. I simply hoped to point out that simple athletic ability – a la Randy Moss – is not the be-all and end-all of who is or who is not invited to join the Notre Dame Community.

If we don't get him I am fine with him at OU. The other half of my family is OU fans and it would be fun to watch Darby and Co. shut him down!

Pure specualtion at this point. DGB has not even started his recruiting journey yet. He is wide open as far as everyone knows at this point.

I agree. I think Oklahoma is in a good position though. I would do anything to get this kid.

ESPN Insider

College Football Rumors - Rumor Central - NCAA - ESPN

Writer is predicting Oklahoma if he had to chose due to proximity to home/ill brother.

That's got to be the dumbest reason he could possibly give. Proximity? South Bend is 1... maybe 1.5 hours further from Springfield than Norman. He would make a decision based on one hour of travel time? Good call ESPN. The only school that makes sense going on proximity is Mizzou.

You do realize he has a younger brother that is very sick, right? If he thinks going to school an hour closer to home is important to him and his family, there is no problem with that.

You completely missed what I said. The point is that Notre Dame and OU are both basically the same distance away. The only school that is significantly closer to home is Mizzou. So if he chooses to stay close to be near his brother, he's going to Columbia. Not Norman.

Well I'm not Doug! (Happy Gilmore). We play Oklahoma the next few year, remember?

Also, his brother (if I remember correctly, which I might not be) is getting treatment in St. Louis. From St. Louis:

Columbia = 2
South Bend = 6
Norman = 8.5

Pretty sure it's Memphis actually

Ah OK thanks for the correction. In that case, why not 'Bama? Tuscaloosa is like 4 hours from Memphis while Norman is 8. Columbia and South Bend would be even further.

Would be quite a feat if Bama could grab both Kiel and DGB.

Back in Norman for about the 6th time with his family. I think this comes down to Mizzou, Bama OU battle. People saying he wants to decide this summer. Still really hoping for a visit.

I know I keep my hopes up but I really think we will get a look before all is said and done. ND and OU are huge around these parts. Same with MIZZOU but when a recruit of this caliber breaks it all down OU, ARK and ND are big time here. Schools like OU are the first impression. IF we win big this season I would almost bet what I have that we get a look. I personally think OU is a great school and I would love nothing more than this kid to be successful. Mix the ND vibe here with his life, it is very possible he looks at us as the ultimate accomplishment! Then again, the kid is level headed and has such a support group that is good that a full ride and degree from OU is still very very positive.

I am so tossed between just wanting this kid to succeed and wanting him to succeed ONLY at ND.

Honestly, if he ends up a ND commit, I think its a switch AFTER the season plays out. I think BK is going to keep the contact there, but I think he plans on bringing it all, guns a blazing, towards the end. If we give everything we have to a HS JR right now, what do we have left to battle the teenage emotions towards the end?

(Tuitt ... Lynch ... )

I feel that is how we won them over. NEVER QUIT, NEVER GAVE UP!

The Tuitt Lynch comparison is pretty thin. Both had mamas with a strong respect for ND. Both had a strong interest in ND at this time last year. Both scheduled OVs early and committed early in the season. Both got intense local pressure to stay "home". Both decommitted from ND and committed elsewhere. One found out he was lied to. One overcame his tether, he lived about an hour from GT. Both reassessed their future, got comfortable with the trip North, and made the decision to come back to ND. One is a very strong student, the other isn't. But neither had the a family member with a serious medical condition as a factor. DGB will have to figure out how that fits into his decision as time goes on.

Yes, ND won the last 4 games but put it in perspective it was not a 11-2, Top 10 finish. And yes , the coaches kept pitching but they did that with a lot of recruits last season who didn't come ND's way at the end.

ND needs to get him to visit this summer like Payton just did. Get the campus, the education, the program into a real prospective. THEN, Crist has to demonstrate on the field that he is a top caliber QB as he was ranked coming out of HS. If he "sees" the field and corrects the under and overthrows this offense will rock. If not Crist then one of the others has to make the jump for QB 1A to Prime Time Starter. ND could go 13-0 but DGB still needs to become comfortable with his family concerns and how he can fit that into his college decision.
