If he wants to play basketball too, it has to help us (at least a little) that we are giving Golson a chance to try both out, at least initially. I'm sure a lot of teams will tell him he has the chance, but with us there will be some evidence to the fact that we are true to our word in this regard.

I read this awhile back about the basketball thing ....

Wherever Dorial ends up — Florida, Missouri, USC, Oklahoma and Ohio State are among the many schools he’s considering — his three-sport days will be over. There’s a chance he’ll run track in college, but he’s going to be a football player first and foremost.

Judging just off the character of this kid and the strong support he has here, I truly feel he will make a smart decision in his colege choice as well as through out his recruiting process. I dont think he will get a big head like some athletes these days do. I am such a strong supporter and fan of this kid. Been watching him play for a couple years and have several friends that know him personally. Stand up guy without a doubt!

I'd love to have this kid. If we get him or not is another question. I think we have a shot and would love to land him and Gehrig Dieter for the WR class. Probably would be done with the WR class after those two. Dorial would make an impact immediately.

This guy is going to be a top ten player in next year's class. The odds of pulling him up here aren't high, but give it a run and see what happens.

BK and Warinner were at his high school this morning checking in on him. Coincidentally, Charlie Weis was also there today, although the current and former ND coaches didn't cross paths. This will be a low-key recruitment, as word is the family wants to place things quietly and close to the vest throughout the process.

We could really use this kind. Have him on one side and Daniels on the other man would be awesome.

Going to be a long road to the end of this one. I work right by his school and get a lot of his fellow team mates in. I am always tempted to try and get a little info on where they think he stands/is leaning. Then I take a step back when I realize that makes me seem like a creeper! I would rather just sit back and watch it all unfold as the season goes on with the hopes of ND getting back to the top and Dorial wanting in...

Here's to hoping! CHEERS!

ND will definitely get a look. Not saying we are a favorite or among his favorites but his dad and Motta's dad are supposed to be very close. Hopefully that swings things our way

BK, CW, Patrino and an OU assistant were in attendance for his basketball game last night. He put up 27 of the teams 59 points in the win.

Was listening to sports talk this morning and theywere saying that thistown has never...NEVER... had such a high profile recruit. Several athletes that BIG 12 was hard after but nothing along these lines. Should be pretty iteresting here on the home frnot!

Fly you ND flag outside the store and keep your gear nearby!

Notre Dame actually has a high fan base here. Springfield is in the bible belt. Toss that in with 17 or so different universities bringing in kids from all over the midwest, 3 of those being religion based only colleges and it becomes hard to walk into a public place without seeing some sort of ND support. The big Catholic high school here is Springfield Catholic... Irish. It is great when I end up at the mall shopping with the wife to see that someone is wearing ND gear in damn near every store! I say all this because Dorial is going to be getting a lot...A LOT of attention from colleges all over but ND is going to really stick out. Yes, you will see tons of BIG 12 gear around these parts but ND stands out. With all the things regarding the ties with Motta, ND running a pass happy offense, Dorial being a stand up STUDENT-athlete, his family religious background and the thought of having the potential to become a ND grad going on in his head while seeing such support for the team in his home town. I think it will give us the base to be in the hunt.

This is kind of a ramble as well as pretty bias (I like to think big). It is my 100th post and I figured this kid deserves it. Doesn't mean much but I would rather ramble about one of my home town kids of his caliber both on and off the field for the 100th post than give a +1 or something along those lines.

GO IRISH!

Outrageous that this kid runs a 4.4 & benches 300 and squats 400 as a high school junior. He'll be a stud no matter where he goes. Hopefully, he's not interested in USC, haha.

In my opinion he is the hot recruit for next year and we need to stay on him. This kid is a special one and is definently the kind of kid we want in blue and gold.

The Stafford kid from Ohio is another stud we could land at WR. So far it looks like a pretty loaded year at the position in a year where we will probably look to take 2-3.

We have 100,000,985 on scholarship, right now.

I'd like them to take one and then focus on our biggest needs, OL (hoping for 4-6) and S (hoping for 2-3).

I have to disagree. Especially if we add Niklas. I don't think we need anywhere near 6 OL... just doesn't make sense. I broke down the numbers before in another thread, but WR has nowhere near the "depth" people assume it does. There are literally no proven commodities behind Michael Floyd (especially if Riddick moves to RB) and we need to be targeting 5* prospects next year that might be able to come in and play as freshman in case GAIII, DD, etc. don't pan out. If we ignore WR next year we have serious potential to be up a creek without a paddle.

Yep, I see atleast two in this class and if another stud commits than 3, but two for sure.

The QB according to the roster is sophomore Micah Liming 6'1 163. Looking at the stats on MaxPreps it says its someone else with all the stats. Matt Futrell is #4 on the roster. The guy in the film is #7. Matt is a Junior at 6'3 175.

Regardless, whoever the starter was went 169-395 3221yds 24td to 23int

Considering they had a brand new team pretty much all around I say not to bad. They will be bringing back most of the team next year. I do remember going into the season the coach talking about having a new QB that is young but very talented. We shall see how they pan out together next year.

I agree. I think you have to take four on each side of the line every year no matter what. We will bring in a smaller class next year so I broke it down like this by needs.

QB- 1
HB- 2
WR- 2
OL- 4
DE- 2
DT- 2
LB- 3
DB- 3
ATH- 2

I think it's important to build on the depth and talent we brought in on both fronts. The staff can not take a year off with recruiting on the front lines.

This is awesome! Thanks for the post! I just wanted to throw it out there. I have been noticing lots of random posts about recruits dealing with the snow and bad weather. Great news along those lines from down here. We get all the **** weather of all kinds. It was 70 a few days ago and now were about to get smacked. I know the rest of the country is as well but its not ever as simple as 20" of snow. Inch of ice, 2-3 weeks of power outage, roads not cleared for 5-10 days and every damn Springfielder fighting and crashing into each other over bread at the store! He will not be one we have to question about weather. So here's to hoping we get his last official visit!

CHEERS!

BIG STORM COMING THROUGH!

This town is ridiculous during this...

Randomly noticed several posts regarding weather in SB...

Usually it is good to have the last impression on a recruit (last official visit)...

Weather will only be better no matter where he ends up (my opinion)....

People at Wal Mart here (more like anywhere) are fun to watch? ...

Hope this helps...

Thanks for this. But I highly doubt the weather there is worse than it is here in South Bend. If it's as bad as you make it out to be, I'd doubt Dorial would want any part of snowy conditions wherever he chooses to go to school.
