The funniest era of ND football media was when Rees was an open book to everyone and then you had Jurkovec's parents feeding Driskell the opposite narrative. Just flat out propaganda coming from all directions.

Maybe Carr actually didn't struggle against the best secondary in college football. Maybe he has looked awesome. The beat has no freaking idea other than what they are told, because they have seen about 15 minutes of actual football this summer.

I can't believe we're finally starting a big-arm QB with accuracy. Not only this year but likely next, and maybe even the year after. Big accurate arm, I can't recall the last ND starting QB that had that.

Mercke called me on Saturday. He flat out told me it was going to be Carr. Hence why I disagreed with ArrowRyan. (appreciate all his insight) Mercke said the media was flat out wrong and went into great detail on why he said Carr. I can tell you with certain he has sources and they are legit legit.

Some of you mfs owe him an apology.

As a former reporter, I genuinely don’t know how ND beat media can do their jobs if they’re this blatantly out of the loop.

To be fair, if the Freeman staff are really serious about not leaking info AND they don't let practice be viewed, what the fuck is the beat media supposed to do??

The whole process is built to keep the media in the dark as much as possible.

tbf the other week the II folks on their podcast spent like 10 mins talking about their fav game day meals. They basically make a portion of their podcast a Dante Moore Thread. Unsurprizingly Brice's game day includes a greasy breakfast followed by pork chops and whiskey

It just defeats the entire purpose of the subscription. What are people paying for if they have no info or are always wrong?

I would argue the problem is the beat are no longer about reporting and are now about content creation (this isn't just restricted to the ND beat, though). Sometimes there is nothing to report. But when your model is selling content, "we have nothing today" for weeks or months isn't going to ring the cash register.

Ultimately I think it came down to trust. I just think that the Coaches couldn't bring themselves to trust someone who's choosing to roll with Malik Zaire's number on their back.

True, but that's largely Freeman's fault, IMO. Fans can't crave access and info from the beat media and also cheerlead Freeman keeping the doors shut at the same time.

I think they can find a much better balance moving forward, but that's just my opinion. Minchey is a rising redshirt sophomore and no one has really seen him thoroughly in a team setting during practice. That's insane.

That's one we didn't need Merckxe for. Miami has won exactly 1 ranked game in the last 3 years, and it was against an A&M team that fell off and later fired their HC in 2023. They lost 3 of their last 4 games last year, and of course lost all their ranked matchups. They're Charmin, but their fans are guzzling the orange Kool-Aide hard this year.

What I saw in the spring game was the most talented guy we've had since at least Deshone, maybe back to Jimmy or Dayne Crist (hopefully goes better than that lol)

It’s not Freeman’s job to provide the sites with content. I don’t really care that they have limited access and find it kind of funny that they been scrambling to get the tiniest bit of accurate information. They clearly don’t have any accurate sources.

Brice basically saying that Minchey is the starter was a terrible move and probably will affect them negatively in the future.
