We really just need to go 1-1 against Miami and A&M. This team has so much talent that we won’t be less than a touchdown favorite against anyone else on the schedule. 11-1 almost certainly guarantees a home playoff game.

I’m glad MF is thinking long term here. He has so much built up good will after last year that it makes sense to go with the higher upside / more volatile option.

lads, start juicing the narrative that IE was right and Driskell, Prister Mike Frank and everyone else was wrong. We have a culture war to win here
You kid, but if you actually look at the timeline last week it was:
-Ryan says at Wednesday practice Carr took every first team rep
-Some people on other corners of the internet for some reason get butthurt about this when it frankly doesn't even concern them. You don't like what someone is posting here, just fuck off. Nobody here is "media" or a "professional."
-A day later, a specific "close to the program" person on II says that it's Minchey and it's been announced and II/IB run with it as gospel. I also want to point out that @Irish5Saint correctly noted the identity of that guy on II, and while I don't know how you knew that, I had to delete your post because I don't want us accused of "doxxing" or whatever. Hope you understand our rationale there, and tip-of-the-hat.
-The coaches take great offense to all of this... both that someone is incorrectly leaking false information and that the beat is just running with it as "fact." II issues an apology/retraction, but even in that they tick off ND some more because they quote a representative on what was supposed to be an off-the-record "get your shit straight" conversation.
-Weekend scrimmage happens, Freeman is visibly annoyed afterwards in the presser.
-48 hours later Carr is announced

So if you look at the timeline, the only craziness is the beat stirring up fake controversy out of thin air at the end of last week. Nothing actually happened.

If you just listened to Merc, Arrowryan, and Lion they said:
-Start of camp expectation is Carr should win the job
-Middle of camp expectation is still Carr should win the job
-At a scrimmage a few days ago Carr took all of the 1st team reps
-The staff will meet after the Sunday scrimmage and make an announcement soon after

Literally everything they said was correct if you tune out the noise from elsewhere.

Lax...do you think this is a one off or is there truly a massive disconnect between the beat and the program? It feels like they don't know jack.

Mercke called me on Saturday. He flat out told me it was going to be Carr. Hence why I disagreed with ArrowRyan. (appreciate all his insight) Mercke said the media was flat out wrong and went into great detail on why he said Carr. I can tell you with certainty he has sources and they are legit legit.

Some of you mfs owe him an apology.

Well I had always said this Kenny in the lead was BS all along. Not saying that there wasn’t a competition but everything leading up to this so called competition pointed to Carr or bust. Minchey will see the field as Carr will probably get his bell rung. Want to see ground and pound and possession passing with our improved receiver corp. When it opens up to with play action and a wide open receiver lay it out there. Reading all the BS opinions in here and from the so called press is almost laughable to look back on. Hope this was a unanimous decision.

The crazy thing is that this creates a scenario where we truly don't know anything about the offense at all. If the beat was this misled on the biggest story of camp, literally every report on who has had a good/bad camp should now called into question.

The inside baseball on all of this is that under Kelly there were massive leaks from both players and coaches. It was, at best, symbiotic... and at worst you had people pushing their agendas through certain "friendly" beat writers.

Freeman has changed that dynamic and does not tolerate leaks. The people who still have access maintain it by not spreading stories / rumors except when they have the green light. So there are a lot of people in the dark.

If yesterday’s II pod is any indication, then this offense is about to drop 50 on everyone. Their last couple pods has basically been doom and gloom about the offense.
