True, but that's largely Freeman's fault, IMO. Fans can't crave access and info from the beat media and also cheerlead Freeman keeping the doors shut at the same time.

I think they can find a much better balance moving forward, but that's just my opinion. Minchey is a rising redshirt sophomore and no one has really seen him thoroughly in a team setting during practice. That's insane.
The subscription sites' refusal to be forthright with their customers is not Freeman's fault nor is it his responsibility.

It’s not Freeman’s job to provide the sites with content. I don’t really care that they have limited access and find it kind of funny that they been scrambling to get a tiniest bit of accurate information.
I agree it's not Freeman's job but also no one should be complaining about the site's content then. This is my whole point.....

Ultimately I think it came down to trust. I just think that the Coaches couldn't bring themselves to trust someone who's choosing to roll with Malik Zaire's number on their back.

Hey now! Zaire was a stud prior to the injury and before the offense got retooled around Kizer. Kelly fucked up when he told Zaire it was still his team when he got injured in that Virginia game, just another example of Kelly failing to learn a lesson.. BK should have remembered not every player comes back 100% after major injury, like 2011 when he tried to start Crist over Rees. It was clear after the South Florida and USC games that Tommy was the better man at the time.

I think the other reason this has become a “board v media” thing is this started with the Carr warming up alone thing. Which put momentum behind he’s struggling or the team doesn’t like him. It allowed a narrative to run from there that built support behind Minchey

My diss of Zaire is entirely based upon his act post ND. Can't stand "Lucky Lefty".

I can't hate on a Dayton guy. He still reps ND, usually positively. He has some controversial comments at times, but they're not always wrong. They're just not what people want to hear sometimes.

Idk how I’m going to deal with a QB who doesn’t stretch. Did we stretch before we beat the Germans?

Are the sites in spin mode?

Brice posted an article about naming the starter and had no intel on Carr except this blurb supporting his earlier stance:

“Minchey, a former Pitt commitment whom Notre Dame nabbed late in the 2023 cycle, had been a steady presence in spring and again in fall camp. He's considered the more mobile of the two and also had limited turnovers in fall camp. Carr opened camp with a three-interception day when Minchey had one; Carr also was said to have thrown two more interceptions in Sunday's annual "jersey scrimmage" inside Notre Dame Stadium.”

I honestly don't know why I felt a sense of relief, because I trusted the staff to make the informed decision about who would prepare this team to win football games.

But I have a good feeling we haven't seen a raw talent like Carr since Clausen, as others have said. Sure, there will be growing pains and probably a few throws he will want back. But having a gunslinger in this offense will be so exciting, our WR depth finally seems like we have the weapons to support a QB.

I guess it just feels like we are finally saying as a program: "We have the supporting cast...lets go with the guy with a higher ceiling" for a change, as opposed to the higher floor. (Not saying Minchey isn't very talented, but again, Carr's arm talent is undeniable). Hope it all clicks for him and this offense.

I will hold back my excitement until I actually see this kid throw a live ball. If we can threaten the whole field it will open up an already potent running attack.

"From the first practice through the last practice Minchey has been better and Carr has been arm punting throughout camp. Any rational coaching staff, would've chosen Minchey and therefore me proclaiming him the starter made perfect sense"- John Brice
