Anyone got advice for buying a ticket to the ND home playoff game? Will be driving up solo from southern Indiana.

Leading up to yesterday, everyone was in agreement of the common opponent theory. Hence PSU throwing for a last sec TD. Franklin can read the tea leaves. Is beating USC by 14 and remaining in the lead, or tied, throughout the contest more of a statement than coming from behind for improbable tie with a 3 point OT win?

I hope ND is 3rd and PSU is 4th Tuesday night. With all the upsets…if ND gets the 5, I would be great for SMU to win to get 3 and Boise get the 4.

If Clemson wins, I could see Boise getting the 3 and the Clemson getting the 4 by jumping the Big 12 as SMU will be 8th or so.

Already In
Texas
Georgia
Tennessee
BAMA
Oregon
Penn State
Ohio State
Indiana
Notre Dame

Last 3 spots are ACC, Big 12, and MWC Champs.
We want Oregon to win to secure that #5. Worse case is ND is 6th and plays a 3 loss Georgia or Bama at #11. I'm not sure the committee puts a 2 loss SMU in over BAMA.
If Clemson beats SMU and Boise wins the MWC I can definitely see Boise getting the bye at 12-1 and Clemson sitting at 12. If Texas beats Georgia how do you put a 3 loss Georgia team in over a 3 loss BAMA team that beat them? For our easiest route in the playoff, we should root for the higher ranked teams to win their conference championships.
I think one could argue between Bama/South Carolina as the last in. Assume its Bama like you have due to the head to head but it will be interesting if the playoff committe has south carolina jump them or not due to current play. I'm personally hoping south carolina because assuming the favorites win their conference championships, I expect a 5 seed Notre Dame to play the 12th seed Bama/South Carolina

It's hard to see the committee putting a South Carolina team that Bama defeated in ahead of Bama, for a variety of reasons.
But yeah looking those rankings over, it feels like we could definitely wind up playing Bama, or Clemson if they beat SMU. Neither would be my first choice.

I actually thought that would be the play, especially if we beat USC by 21 (last touchdown annoyed me). That way we could stay ahead of them if they lost (and they couldn’t complain having to play in a CCG is unfair) but would move ahead of us if they won.
Yeah Marcus should have subbed in the two's on D after the Watts pick six. Not on anyone's mind I guess with the euphoria, but those guys would have at least slowed down the USC offense and to Riley's credit he didn't come out throwing. Starters were gassed and didn't really care but a lot of voters are not really paying attention to end of game optics like this.

Anyone else think that other than Ryan Day, the coach most upset by Michigan's win yesterday is James Franklin? Penn State was sitting pretty with a chance to rest next week and a first round home playoff game locked up. Now he's got to game plan for Oregon where the Lions will finally get exposed, meaning Penn State will end up on the road against a Texas, Georgia or Tennessee in the first round. Love it.
Unless PSU loses by 40, I can’t imagine they’re dropping more than spot or two

I know was thinking the same about Clemson. Basically Clemson, OSU, Bama, and Georgia kinda have ND's number(although we have at least fared about 50/50 against Clemson). Every year is new, but really want to avoid those teams if at all possible.

This is a great year to get OSU/Bama/GA monkey off the back. None are particularly and two of them are not acclimated to cold

Definitely agree but they still have pretty excellent coaches/talent(Day being questionable). Would rather play a team with lesser tier/proven leadership. I keep thinking back to 2012 when I was so excited KSU lost so ND could be number 1. You want to beat the best, but also don't want to make it more difficult than it has to be.

To win it all, we will probably have to face one or more of them, but would rather it not be the first round

Heather Dinich this morning shared HER updated rankings.

ND was 7, hosting Miami who was 10

PSU/Oregon loser was 5, Georgia/Texas loser was 6

You lost me at “Heather Dinich”

She seems to be a popular target.

A little over a week ago someone claimed she was looking for ND to lose to Army so the SEC teams behind them could move up when what she really said was "Bama, TN, and the others behind ND are rooting for Army," which was a true statement and had nothing to do with what she personally wanted but people on this board piled on her based on an incorrect summary of what she said.

And as far as I can tell, she has not shared HER updated rankings, she shared her updated PROJECTED rankings, which means she's projecting what she thinks the CFP committee will do this coming Tuesday, not what she would do. And her projected rankings don't have ND as the 7 seed, we are the 6. She thinks the committee will keep PSU ranked ahead of us, giving them the 5 seed... for now. That projection has nothing to do with what she thinks might happen after the CCGs. She likely won't be asked to make those projections until after next week's games. Here's her segment:

I get that a lot of ESPN personalities have shitty hot-takes and a bias against ND, but if we're going to call anyone out we should at least get it right.

If we have to beat one of them, I'd like it to be on a cold night in South Bend rather than a nice corporate environment in some dome?
Hope to just get a win in the books against the weakest opponent possible, but that's an excellent point.

I’m not overly concerned about any other playoff team this year with consideration of us being healthy and as full strength as possible. I think our defense is good enough to get stops and and our offense is able to generate points.
Word up. Bring on everyone.
