Coach Kelly won ten games --- all three losses vs top level teams --- and with weirdly uncharacteristic LSU DLines and corners. What if those DLinemen and corners show back up? Just an "obvious" observation, which I believe is buried under mountains of emotionalism in several fan bases.

In the past (typically, Les Miles’ teams) that’s exactly when they mailed it in. They placed so much emphasis on that game, would typically lose, and just come out flat the remaining 2-3 games.

I do agree with the rest of your statement, and it sounds nice and all, but it isn’t reality — especially now. Starting players transfer and coaches leave at the conclusion of the season, but before the bowl game. Players opt out. It just isn’t the same. Again, if you’re Vanderbilt, Minnesota, Northwestern, Cal, Oklahoma State, Pitt, Arizona State, Iowa State, etc…that’s different. You’re still playing and likely excited. The major programs, however? No way. There’s a reason for the opt outs and low fan turnout.

It's not just ESPN and it's not just college football, though. Fans in basically every sport now see it as Championship or failed season, and there's no in between. The kids in college sports have been raised in that environment.

Couple the above with seeing guys like Jaylon lose millions of dollars playing in a game that is essentially only a marketing ploy for ESPN, Power 5 conferences, and bowl committees to make truckloads of money that doesn't get anywhere near a player's pocket...why would a player with reasonable expectations of NFL money take that risk in a game where, even with a win, the season is still a "failure?" And frankly, from the school's standpoint, having your best players go to the league and become stars is more valuable than winning the Sun Bowl or the Reliaquest Bowl or whatever.

I feel like there is some cardinal rule that we aren’t allowed to criticize you, but I’ll say this. Your love affair with BK and Rees is tiring.

Well they have given more to ND than you or I ever will. Let’s be honest here.

So he essentially had a typical Brian Kelly year. Win the games you should, lose the games you should.

I’m just glad someone else is paying for these totally predictable and expected results now.

The defense was so bad I ended up looking up their coordinator and the dude turns out to be some hot shot who was/is considered one of the top coordinators going around.
What happened there is odd.

The run of head coaches winning a national championship at LSU is going to end with Brian Kelly, and I'm completely fine with that being the case.
I don’t know about that.
They seem to have stuuuud WRs every year. You only need to tweek a few things to add to that and you could easily have him winning next season.

Must be more emotionally invested than me in these matters.
I didn't make it personal, why have you?

“Tweak a few things” = replace your OC, find a QB and grow a defense. NBD.

You didn't make it personal with Solll, but when you make excuses for why BK lost, valid or not, and then imply that people who don't care about your obvious-observation-what-if scenario are only doing so because of "emotionalism," you seem to be implying that you are the only one looking at BK objectively while the rest of us are not. Solll pushed back on that notion and I think he was right to do so.

Matt House, Kerry Cooks, Robert Steeples and Jimmy Lindsey will all not return.

DC, S, CB and DL coaches all gone.

I don't know that he can continue on with 10-3 (6-2 conference) seasons at LSU very long before they decide to pull the plug. He's not getting any younger and has zero regional ties to the program. Wasn't their first choice either.

LSU is at +1500 odds for this upcoming season to win a National Championship. Same as Ole Miss. UGA is +400. Just fired his entire defensive staff and loses the Heisman Trophy winner. He's got quite a bit more to tweak in order to get a championship. Curious as to how much patience they're going to have.

It's not a cardinal rule. We give respect to OMM because he's let his identity be known. He's a respected professor/academic who loves Notre Dame and has had some very insightful posts over the years. Most of us are fictitious in the sense that we don't reveal our identities and we have fun jabbing/talking on the board.

OMM has a little more humanity behind his posts because we know who he is. I believe that's the reason we offer him more respect. We're all free to agree/disagree and criticize as we see fit.

Did you all see 'ol Krian Belly on the sidelines during their bowl game constantly working on and bitching at the refs. Reminded me of crybaby Tom Izzo for MSU b-ball. If they coached during the game rather than working the officials, maybe their teams would play to their abilities.
