I feel like he was a "traits" guy early on with us but once he got that figured out he was a monster. But, yeah, if a dude doesn't want to play NFL football anymore, OK. That's totally fine. He's gotten a Notre Dame degree and a fair bit of money out of this sport. Still has his health. Go do something else. It's a big world out there.

its a historical organization and its a privilege to play for them. I respectfully disagree with the issue of waking up playing for them. It is an honor to play in the NFL and its also an honor to play for an original franchise. I think his attitude and everything about him makes me sick. Butkus, singletary, etc would not comprehend Claypool. Hate to say it, but he is a selfish POS imo

Ya'll are taking some hardcore shots at Chase. I'm still rooting for him and I think he's bought into the fast life/bright lights and this rarely turns out well but I'm still hoping he succeeds.

I hope you all want the same for him. It'd be nice if he went to some kind of retreat/detox center and just really worked through some demons. I don't think Chase has surrounded himself with good influences given his rapid decline on the field. It's all mental and it'd be nice to see him have a phoenix rebirth

IMO, the NFL simply brought his issues to light. His problems seem to be rooted in “I’m gifted, that’s that.” He started with a bang in Pittsburgh… what happened?

He got a taste of success, but then things got harder when Pittsburgh hit a reset after Big Ben. Chase fell off. Instead of growing with Pickett, he went into neutral and got shipped off.

He’s been stuck in neutral, much like he was at ND his first 2.5 years.

I heard early on that he planned on being a 3-year guy, no matter what. He was going to hit the NFL even if he didn’t have any on-field production, because he knew he was a physical freak, and thought his worst-case scenario would be testing into a high draft pick. Sounds delusional, even for a guy that was so freaky and large at WR that people were debating his junior year as to whether or not he should’ve started on defense as a frosh, and turned into a unicorn on that side of the ball.

His plans changed when he saw Boykin do his thing a year ahead of him, and realized a little application could result in a lot more money.

He worked his ass off, got drafted, was a rookie sensation in the NFL for a minute, but then fell off because being a freak isn’t unique at his level anymore. He had a plan to get there, but not the wiring to maintain.

I get he's playing for a team that hasn't found their way in forever, but there are plenty of guys on bad teams that don't act like him. It seems to me Chase is a "me" guy and thinks since he's a WR, he can play by a different set of rules. As Jerry Glanville said, "NFL stands for Not For Long". Chase better wake up or his career is going to come to an abrupt end.

If Chase were some rando WR from Michigan or USC, we're not sitting here indicting the Steelers and Bears. I want ND guys to do well in the pros, but it's exactly that. The pros. This kind of attitude isn't going to get him anywhere and no winning franchise is going to want him if he's not going to be accountable. The situations in Chicago and Pittsburgh are not an excuse for Chase to put a label on himself as a malcontent.

As a coach, i'm WAYYYYYY more of a stickler on effort than someone's raw abilities. With ND i'm just assessing our capabilities.

It's not athleticism with claypool as we all know, it's effort and focus. 2 things I have minimal patience for if not given.
