40 posters got last week's margin correct. Of those 40, 7 of them are riding a 2-0 start to the season and sit on top of the standings in the early going.

I'm hoping for my bet of ND-7 that they do end up covering by double digits. Week 1 yada yada sure, but NC State didn't look too impressive against UCONN, so I feel pretty confident that ND should win by double digits. Could it be a major blowout? Sure, but in my opinion a comfortable victory is the most likely outcome. Estime and Price get another touchdown, Hartman continues to look good but throws his first pick and the board melts down.

ND 38 - NC State 23

I think ND will be tested early in this one with the noon start and the crowd being a factor, as I believe NC State will be jacked up to have a top 10 team for their home opener. But ND will wake up before the half and go into the break up 17-10 when Hartman finds Chris Tyree on a deep post in the final minute.

In the second half, they adjust and keep Armstrong and his scrambling abilities in check, and force him to beat them with his arm. He is a turnover prone QB, and I think Benmo records his first pick of the season in the fourth quarter and takes it back to the house, giving ND a comfortable 31-13 win.

14-point win that doesn't feel that close.

Offense gets tested a bit early, and the defense has an adjustment period playing a QB with a pulse, but ultimately everyone settles in, and Gerad and Sam still don't really need to open the full playbook yet.

Vanilla run game with appropriate/basic deep throws off of play action are enough to keep the good guys out front. 28-7 become 28-14 with a late NC State score.

I said yesterday that a 2 td win sounds about right. I think the difference could be anywhere from 14 or 15 to like 23.

I don't think NCSt gets 17 in this game, tho'.

38-21. There might be times where the game feels tighter than it ends up being. But, Hartman and the offense will put together drives that distance the Irish, comfortably, over time.

I see this game being like a 37-13 Irish win.

I think the coaching staff challenges all 3 phases. I think the open the play books up just a little more to show confidence in the players. The staff knows this will be the only real test until OSU. They have to flex a little bit. I don't think Freeman cares one bit what the college football world thinks of the team, however the coaches need this team to go into OSU with confidence and see the results when you work hard.

Then its back to the more vanilla game plan for Central Michigan.

Me thinks it’ll be ND 41-13, and I don’t even even want to give them that many. I feel like they manage a touchdown and a couple field goals.

I see 38-24. Our defense hasn't been tested yet and Armstrong as a running threat scares me to keep the chains moving and turn first downs into points. Still not sold on the DL or LB's. I think Hartman redeems himself for previous trips to NC State. It won't be as easy to come by as the first two games but I don't see NC State consistently stopping this offense. I see 21-14 at half and us outpacing them to close it out.

38-20

NC State with a garbage 4th to make it look respectable-ish.

35-10

Edit: I believe ND is finally acting like a really good team: Dominate weaker opponents & play their 2nd and 3rd string players to gain experience. Check and check.

Yes, the Irish have yet to play a solid team however, I don't believe NC State is all that solid. ND wins handily with a late score by State.

ND 27-13.

NC State’s Defense is legit, & they are getting back their 2 DE starters who sat at week 1, plus a great Defensive Coordinator.

But their offense is not good. Below average receivers & running backs & basically just a backyard type QB that ND needs to rough up whenever he scrambles.

ND staff knowing they don’t need to score a lot, just don’t turn it over (which is what NCSU is hoping Hartman does) and play it clean.
Boring game.

I think this about right. Plus, the new clock times really do limit how many points you can put on the board. If NCState's defense is any good, they'll be able to keep even really elite teams under 35 I think, but that doesn't mean they'll be able to stop the offense from scoring well, if that makes sense

Armstrong will extend some drives on his feet, but NC State's line play on both sides of the ball ultimately limit their ability to score or stop ND. 38-13 Irish.

45-21 Irish. Video game offense in the first real test. Love has a huge game. We finally see deep shots after the half.

38 - 17 Irish. Defense shuts down NCST's traditional run game and keeps them off schedule on the pass. Armstrong is able to sustain a few drives on chunk plays with his legs and broken passing plays. On offense we're able to run the ball effectively for 5 ypc, and work the short and intermediate passing game but can't hit any deep shots which leads to a low possession game with lots of long scoring drives. The low possessions and 1 offensive turnover keep us from scoring 40+ in a game in which we punt only once.
