Talent but big questions. No established RB, WRs, o-line.
The D will probably be great.
they have established WRs and some experience at RB/Oline but I just don't see the game changers they seem to always have at RB/WR. At least the ones projected to start, the young frosh i'm not so sure.

D had to replace a lot but will always be talented

QB is the biggest major question mark. They could easily lose multiple games due to QB play.

Bama has texas, Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, A&M that can all give them big time problems.

Isn’t Ty Simpson the QB that Rees never even bothered to offer?
It would be brilliant if he transferred to ND.

I know I laughed at you for suggesting Brady Allen and Sam Hartman....but it now doesn't look like that's the worst idea lol.

Better in every way on offense, except for the questions at qb. Losing a LOT on defense to the draft, but lots of quality players to fill in the gaps. If we settle the qb issue, we have a good shot at winning it all.
How's your OL? Seriously if they are Joe Moore contenders and can keep Buchner clean, then he can throw the deep ball. I'm certain you have fast receivers on the roster so that'll be a staple for them. He shouldn't be reading the defense too much, the scan offense will be in full effect.

Buchner has shown miraculous plays followed by some of the worst reads you could imagine. And he appears to be made of aluminum so they need to keep him clean and let him get comfortable on the college field. The Texas and Ole Miss games will be telling. Either he'll finally put it together or he'll recede on a big stage.

I've never been this excited to watch Alabama play. If he puts up Heisman numbers, I'll be sick.

The only thing that I can think of is that this entire thing is a phenomenally well-done fiction creation by the Notre Dame and Alabama psychology communities ... or a major Glitch in the Matrix.

Did I miss TTown Tommy grounding us on this Whack?

Maybe this is Buchner getting his foot in the door for a coaching career. He serves as a solid backup for a year under Tommy and Saban, then does a year as a GA.

Have to give Freeman enormous credit and the program for getting Hartman… I cannot even imagine scrambling like this again for a QB like Bama and OSU to a degree are doing… Clemson doesn’t really have a clue either just hope… and we are dialed in.. so excited for year… plus I think it’s good get Tommy’s out the door… Freeman and his guys running the show

This by Sampson must've been posted before Buchner announced for Bama. But it includes this head-spinning nugget, which I suppose remains a viable option...

"Then again, Buchner could also head elsewhere this year, then return to Notre Dame next spring just the same. There’s an argument that might actually be the shrewdest of shrewd moves."

He should have been sent on a season long loan deal to Ball State clearly

Not high on Buchner coming to Bama. May be a good insurance pickup if the Simpson injury is more serious than reported. But I don’t see Buchner being a starter. Should have stayed at ND and improved for the next three years.

Saban doesn't sound like he's expecting much from TB Saban explains why Alabama wanted Notre Dame transfer QB Tyler Buchner... “Tyler was certainly the guy at Notre Dame last year and got injured,” Saban continued. “Played in the bowl game and played very well so we felt like he would add a lot of competition and we think he has the right kind of character and attitude to be a positive influence on the team.”

I expect him to be dynamic with 1-3 head scratchers every game.
The South Carolina game 10+ times.

He's dead to me.

Everything about this is surreal, including the (alleged?) Saban quote.

What in the hell has happened to reality?

... maintaining the SLIMMEST attachment to the actual world, MAYBE if Buchner had a MASTERMIND
of subtlety he might see NDs incoming OC situation as being so thrown together that he wouldn't grow under
it like he could under Tommy (I could believe that, but not that Buchner saw it as a strategist), and went to
Alabama to QB school one more year (since he wouldn't play here nor in his view grow anyway) and shift to
somewhere he actually COULD play season after next.

Damm that's near inconceivable subtle plot. ... and would Saban put up with it? He can't believe Buchner is
his guy.

My first post so be gentle but are there any rules against tampering? Could Tommy be in trouble for making contact with TB before he was in the portal? Thanks

The problem is I'm not sure how you could prove it if there was tampering involved.
Schools do this all the time and have for awhile, but it's happening much more so now with no waiting periods on transfers and NIL deals. Schools will often use a 3rd party to negotiate to avoid getting their hands dirty.
Even if a school does reach out with a 3rd party the only way someone would hear about it is if the player turned the school in I'm guessing...and if they're interested in leaving they're probably not going to do that.
There's a very real chance that TB reached out to Rees first given the fact he was back to #2 on the depth chart again.

The funny thing is that Rees brought Hartman to Notre Dame which is what put TB #2 on the depth chart to begin with.

Yea but playing for Bama is way better than playing for ND - just from a football standpoint. And for athletes that often trumps everything.

Yep....... you'd have to think his confidence is on super thin ice if not shot already. The number of bone head decisions resulting in brutal turnovers (mostly pick 6) would derail most people's careers. I honestly think it has with his. I would be shocked if he recovers and becomes a 12 game starter.

Especially since he wasn't going to play much at ND.
Huh? They had offensive sets for Tyler and MF stated there still was a QB competition. Hartman is gone next year.

I think he is prospects for playing time at ND was better than Bama. Its about the better program / coaching staff.
