ISD guys said on their Youtube show that if Ty Simpson were to hit the portal ND should try and get him.

Nick Saban has lost control. This is hilarious.
May be a bit of a stretch. He missed on a five star quarterback, it appears, and he's bringing in more depth/increasing competition.

Last year, ND's staff passed on bringing in a QB to compete seemingly b/c they didn't want Buchner to transfer and they were rewarded with Pyne, four losses and Buchner transferring anyway.

Saban is going about it a bit different. Maybe it works. Maybe it doesn't. He has the most talented roster in America so I wouldn't bet against him.

This.

Says anyone with common fucking sense.

THIS.

The transfer makes NO sense. The ND QB position is wide open next year, and you are a snap away from being the guy this year.

They are used to Tua and Bryce. If he plays at Alabama, it will be because things are going very, very wrong down there. He and Rees will take the blame from their absolutely ruthless fans.

They are loaded at OL and Running Backs. I think Saban got on board wanting TB because he is going back to run and pound style of play. It will be interesting to see this play out.

I just don't see TB doing all that well at Bama. The ONLY thing that might work out for him is if his surrounding cast is so talented and consistent, that he rarely feels the pocket pressure, but in today's game and esp. in SEC, they're coming after the QB and esp. after they see on game film how TB responded in big games to pressure (not so well). Because that's where TB is way too inconsistent and nervous in the pocket and I don't see that changing at Bama. And also, as many have alluded to, maybe he is a run option pkg guy for them. Is my two cents anyway... Now watch him win the Heisman :ROFLMAO:

What’s the outlook for Alabama as a whole this year? How do they compare to recent teams?
Better in every way on offense, except for the questions at qb. Losing a LOT on defense to the draft, but lots of quality players to fill in the gaps. If we settle the qb issue, we have a good shot at winning it all.

I hate to say it, but that question would seem to be answered by this move...
I was kinda referring to the rest of the team beside the QB position. Of course in football that’s kinda like the old joke “other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?”

I was really hoping for some TB12 packages to spell Hartman this year, and he would have been an extremely capable backup. I love his athleticism, he just couldn't play consistent enough football.

That said, I can't wait to see what Hartman can do, and Angeli looked pretty good in the Spring Game.

Best of luck to him at Bama, I have no love in my heart for the Crimson Tide but I appreciate Buchner, seems like a great young man, so I hope he succeeds. The Gator Bowl was electric, thanks for that fun memory TB!

How is this so? You lost Gibbs at RB, he was an absolute stud. OLine is super talented but young. All the WRs are pretty much back, which should be a strength, although I don't think you have your usual game wrecker at WR.

Again, very talented offense, but lacking a QB is a big deal as you and we all know.

With all respect, you don't think having a legit shot at a NATTY and playing for the GOAT is alluring. That I think has common sense to an athlete like TB.
Don't remove your backup QB part of it. Yeah starting for him would be insane and if him and Rees thinks he can start there, good for them both. It very well could be a very bad move for both Buchner and Rees if he starts. He won't make it through a bunch of brutal turnovers if he starts and does bad like he easily could, and this would be the QB Reese developed for the last 3 years.

If he's going there to be a backup and just to be a part of Bama. Although that's a cool story to tell, I'd rather not be able to tell that story as I'm driving in my BMW M5 to my elite country club membership a few years after graduating from ND.

Man I really don't know. Buchner at his best could be an NFL player. He is so inconsistent though and has played such little football.

There is a world where he is literally Heisman caliber for Bama but based on what we saw this spring does anyone actually think he should play over Hartman? I sure as hell don't. The bigger question for me is almost "how did ND get Hartman instead of Bama getting Hartman?" Seems like a total coup. We clearly got the more polished, consistent, and accurate passer and he's probably going to be way more productive with ND's lack of proven talent at WR than Buchner would've been.

The smartest choice freeman made as a HC so far. He let it be known in December of last year he was looking to bring a top qb in from the portal. This with the fact he had a full 1-2 years to assess both Pyne and Buchner in big game action. This decision put the risk of buchner and or pyne leaving. Bama wasn't probably ready to take that same risk with their much more highly recruited QBs until they were given a chance. If Bama was out there in December looking/talking/asking about portal QB options maybe hartman is at Bama.

So thinking about this some more, maybe Buchner views this as one last chance at a high level with an OC he is familiar with, and if he doesn't get the starting job, he is in no worse shape than if he stuck around at ND as long as he can finish his degree by the he would have finished at ND so he could grad transfer to a different program for his final 2 years. Basically he could be trading the ND degree for one more chance to start at a high P5 level. If he doesn't do that this year, then transfer down a level to a good academic school.
