Bama and UGA are in a class of their own and so the value for transferring is there. It sucks.

This is not a good look for this staff either. We can't be going into seasons without a legit, experienced Backup. Typical ND crap.

Buchner is in no way being guaranteed the starting job. Saban would die before he'd do that. I think you'll actually see a blend this year with Milroe and Buchner/Simpson.

Also, the last part, I just don't get on board with. This isn't some catastrophic loss. It really isn't. He may be a great kid, and performs well in practice, but at the end of the day, some guys can consistently play when the lights are on, and some can't. Just like Jarrett Lee at LSU, Buchner, I really wish no ill will on him, but he's in that later part. It's a mental thing. It is what it is; however, I wouldn't lose one second of sleep over his departure. I truly mean that.

Tyler was the only other QB who had legit experience under the bright lights. He won the bowl game. That counts for more than just something. Angelli and Minchey are crap shoots due to have no legit snaps. Hey, Saban said he was looking for additional help in his post A-Game presser. They took Buchner because they saw that same value. Its a loss.

I could see Saban doing something creative like this, it working, and just another feather in the cap of the best college coach of all-time. That was hard to type.

Can't see it. It would be too gimmicky and a sign of desperation by Bama. The optics would be terrible

I wouldn't say he's had "legit experience". He's played in three games, all 3 of which, I'd argue that he played poorly. Again, from what little I've seen (2 regular season games, 1 bowl game, and 1 spring game), this is not something to be overly concerned about. It's honestly odd how many fans are up in arms about this...

Just listened to the special II podcast and it’s really funny to listen to those guys give all the reasons why TB will not/should not go to Bama. They taped prior to his commitment.

If i'm going to be the #2 QB my entire career and never be the starter then ND for the degree.

QBs that throw 4 pick 6's in the 4 games they played meaningful snaps don't start anymore. They don't get the opportunity to "try" and play more consistent. You can't win vs good teams (or Marshall) throwing pick 6's. South Carolina had their 2nd team D that's why we were able to overcome that, Coan bailed us out vs Tech, and we couldn't bridge the gap vs Marshall. His pick 6 vs tech and inconsistency is why he didn't play as much to finish out the 21 season.
