Sucks that MF isn’t going in home. Could’ve left a giant floater in the toilet before leaving.

Bowen: Sorry, MF.....heading elsewhere. And sure you can use the bathroom before you leave.

Imo the story is probably true. But sharing it was dumb.

No one is getting paid $2MM up front to go anywhere, especially a safety. In more likelihood the totality could have been up to $2MM if he stayed 4 years and it included a "signing bonus" of sorts.

Likely needed a reason to decommit. Used the misinformation or whatever as such. Moving on. Sucks, I am sure I would take the money myself at that age, but just a shitty look to lead MF and the gang on. No hard feelings, but its becoming clear, NIL is ruining college football and ND is going to get passed by if it doesn't get ratified soon.

Marcus will be gone in no time btw. Can't blame him either.

Bowen has not truly been committed to ND for months. According to him, it is not about the money and he is going to choose a school based off where he thinks he can have success and wants to be. He choose ND originally for those reason I presume, but it appears several things changed along the way. If MF passed on the in home visit, he must believe he can no longer sell what caused Bowen to commit to ND in the first place.

Luckily, it appears the staff could read the tea leaves months ago and continued to recruit additional safety options.

ND will be alright with/without Bowen. MF tells these kids..."ND isn't gonna be your easy way." Surely he realizes the same is true for the ND staff and recruiting the high-end talent.

I will feel just fine if the 2024 class is on par with the 2023 class. But I get the feeling that it's going to get progressively more difficult for ND to recruit.

While I hate that this unregulated current cesspool appears to have cost us 3 big fish this year, there’s still a bunch of high character high 4 star talent coming in. Do a great job of developing it and the future is still bright. These kids aren’t sticking as we’ve seen and are being drawn into a dirty game they aren’t prepared for.

The staff has to learn at some point, right? Im loosing count now of how many times this year leaked intel on twitter hurt us
1. DM with fasle info CJ reclassifying
2. Staff preferring Paige over Freeling
3. Ronan Hanafin No room at the inn
4. Jackson Arnold visiting
5. Bowen (even though this one was already likely dead)

Am I missing any?
This is not the case at all
1) It was all about dad and NIL
2) The only CJ related thing was some said Dante might not want the competition.

At the time of Dante's silent decommit, there was no discuss of CJ reclassifying (why would they ask that of him when they had Dante already?). The CJ reclassifying talk came after Dante left

This is gonna get old really fast. ND has a hard enough time landing 5 stars, now even ones we’re able to get committed will simply be bought out from under us because of our moral objections. Smdh.

#4 was the worst. (worked out in the end) but Arnold was 100% going to visit until it got leaked and OU was able to reign him back in. If he comes, Bowen probably for sure comes lol

TBH, I don't mind the idea of you have to sign before you get paid, or even negotiate being paid. That probably should've been part of how the NCAA introduced NIL. But the short-sided dumbasses in charge there had no clue wtf to do.

He’s going to OU. He’s been going to OU. This isn’t some rug pulled out of us by NIL.

The only NIL question worth asking, is do you think we could have put a price tag on breaking up with his girlfriend by dropping a bag to not go to OU lol

eh. I dont 100% agree with that. 60/40 yes, but NIL is helping. Sure as hell isn't hurting.

90/10. C’mon we’ve been doing this OU thing for 11 months. Now today it’s about NIL?

These 5 stars (ESPECIALLY a guy from Denton) will have seen what happened last year at A&M and very well could have just been playing a waiting game knowing that the bidding was going to start in earnest at the last moments.

Ohio St athletic dept literally said they will need 10-15 mill per year of NIL to be competitive
I remember when Ryan Day made that comment. My first thought was that OSU would never be able to play ball, but other posters thought that OSU had the money and his comment was just to keep the boosters/alumni from being complacent.

Jackson Arnold has been committed to OU for almost a year. No fuss. No visits elsewhere. No games.

We’re trying to rationalize a L by making it this macro picture of the state of college football. We lost a kid we’ve thought we were gonna lose for months because his friends and girlfriend is going there. That’s always been the main part of the story. A Driskell post didn’t wipe that all away.

My fear is that at some point in the near future, Freeman says "screw this" and leaves if there's an opening at a quality program that isn't afraid of offering lucrative NIL deals. I wouldn't blame him. Since I doubt NIL will ever truly have guardrails, our hope is that wealthy boosters and alumni start dropping bags. I mean, pretty much every prominent program does it, so why not? It's not like the coaching staff or administration would be able to stop it.

ND was used as leverage to get more money but I wouldn’t say this is “NIL” related. 5 years ago the same prospect would’ve used ND for leverage and done the same. This is no different, it’s just above board so Peyton gets a high five for sticking it to Freeman and Company.

IF he wants big money, he has to be a big man
Face up - tell Freeman, ND friends etc the truth.

Hate that kids are getting this kind of money and responsibilities put on them. And all the pressures internally and externally. Absolutely not healthy.

NIL is a part of this for sure. Bowen has made countless visits to Norman this fall so it’s not really surprising. Now if his decision is 100% based on the highest bidder then he’ll end up at either Oregon or A$M

A big thing that sucks is this is now the 3rd time Irish fans have been very misinformed in the calendar year: Walker, Moore, Bowen.

Either the staff is Hellen Keller when reading recruitments, or premium sites withhold information to paying customers.

Or the premium sites don't have the same relationships with this staff as the previous one and as a result aren't privy to the same amount of access as they previously had.

And recruit for which 5 or 6 schools ahead of us? Lol. There are slim pickings ahead of us in the ranking with established coaches. He going to leave ND head coaching job for DC job at OSU just so he can recruit better?

Pulled an Amorion Walker in back to back years. Oh well on to the next one. Hit the portal and find a starter at Safety, or convince Joseph to stay and increase his stock.

It's always this lol. Whenever shit hits the fan after the recruiting sites have been pumping sunshine for months, despite knowing exactly what is ACTUALLY happening behind the scenes, the paying customers get rowdy and demand to know why they were paying for what turned out to be obvious lies or poor information.

Then the beat guys give it the old "we can only report what we've been told" or "we couldn't betray the confidence of the recruits because they're Good Kids."

Then the rabble dies down until ND gets strung along for the next Juju Smith-Schuster, rinse, repeat.

I actually like MFMF calling first before visiting. His time to visit today and tomorrow is very limited and he must feel the vibes aren't favorable enough to say hell with it, I'm spending my time on someone that's going to be a part of the class or still in our corner. If he thought he had a chance he'd be going to visit. I'm interested to see where he ends up now though tonight and tomorrow.
