Just come up with a football player friendly major. Use Holy Cross again, add a sports management major, Elementary, And Secondary education Major. Not sure why that is above ND, mission being higher learning and allThe administration definitely needs to be more lenient with undergrad transfers.
What do people think of this solution? If an undergrad transfer had a offer from ND, Stanford, NW, Vandy, Duke, WF, UVA, UNC, or Cal out of HS then they should be able to transfer to ND.
It's still there. A fair number of players today major in Film Television and Theater, which does not seem especially taxing. But you still have to actually go to class and stuff.Arts and Letters is what 90 percent of the football team majored in in the Holtz and pre Holtz days. What happened to that?
I'm of the opinion that we need to ease up wherever we have to. Otherwise it will never change, I know a lot of alumni and fans won't agree,. It's just getting to point where we eventually become Harvard And Yale of the early 1900s. ND has to figure it out, It's not coaching in BKs case, it's not recruiting in Freeman's case,. I truly believe that Saban wouldn't win a Title hereIt's still there. A fair number of players today major in Film Television and Theater, which does not seem especially taxing. When comparing Notre Dame with (many) schools where you can do online classes and major in phys ed or something, it's more playing school than a lot of these elite players want to bother with, it seems.
If we took A transfer QB we’d be in an even better spot than them. BK wasn’t worried ab his back up QBs feelings unlike Rees.
No doubt.. I've always believed the only thing between ND Football and a return to dominance, has been our own University, eventually they will reach the end of the rope like some of our fans have years agoKelly winning big at LSU is actually good for ND. Proves that it is in fact the board/administration’s fault.
I just don't see how 85 scholarship players will degrade the prestige of the University whatsoever. It's literally around 0.0085 percent of the student populationIt's still there. Any real football fan is fine with a coach reading his team or a player the riot act. Tommy’s best moment this year and maybe his whole career was ripping a new one to Pyne for being completely inept. Pyne will be the end of him. If he had a good QB we would all be relatively happy right now atI couldn't care less what others on IE might think, but I really enjoyed watching LSU takeover the game vs Kiffen and Ole Miss. Our old coach is showing (to what should be no one's surprise) that he's still one helluva coach, and is getting those guys at LSU behind his program. If Polian had done his ##$%^&^%$ job the first two games, LSU might be undefeated. Alabama is coming and he might be a year away, but I'll bet LSU gives them a game.
What should be more controversial (as I'm intuitively winging this) is the following opinion. LSU players not only looked significantly more athletic than NDs but also ripping around all over the field with raging intensity. Where is that with MY team? Kelly as we know could be a hardass. He was a coach, not a friend. Coach Freeman is deeply liked as a "player's coach." I'm not sure that I've ever seen that work. None of NDs championship coaches shied away from climbing someone's frame. (I was also a fan of Bob Knight.)
I think it's time to stop being so damm nice. There are times for "The Purple Face." ... and I have no idea whether Coach Freeman is capable of changing his wonderful personality to being, say, Nick Saban, ... or Brian Kelly ... on the practice field (because this team rarely looks ready to rumble to me except for "mean ol' Harry's" OLine. )
... if that creates raging intensity here on IE, then my job here is done.
Ok. Players generally stay close to home. We can't move ND somewhere else. It’s not without the realm of possibilities that LSU‘s recruiting class Might be better than Freeman’s class. LSU is going to lockdown Louisiana now and I can’t imagine we won’t have a few deep commitments from this class. I won’t be surprised if Jaden Asberry flips from Notre Dame to LSU
I think before Love committed we were one spot ahead of them on 247 (currently we're #3 and they're #7). If we lose, say, Bowen, we'd be neck and neck again. But LSU has some built-in advantages we don't, and we don't play LSU any time soon, so I don't really care too much about their class. It’s not without the realm of possibilities that LSU‘s recruiting class Might be better than Freeman’s class. Yep and precisely one of the many reasons Kelly rightfully left ND for LSU….Ok. Players generally stay close to home. We can't move ND somewhere else.
Talk to me when Kelly wins a playoff game. Ole Miss is akin to NC State of 2017. It's great and makes you feel good at the moment. But then there comes the reminder that BK is nothing more that a really good coach. I don't want really good. I want exceptional. I am willing to roll the dice to ge there. BK has his ceiling. His short and pudgy statute will never get him thru it.The way Notre Dame fans used to get upset a Brian Kelly for getting upset at the players yet he would have 10 win seasons are we feeling better now that we have a very nice nice coach who won’t yell at the players but will be lucky to win seven or eight games?
Well ND certainly rolled the dice w Freeman. You are a typical ND fan that thinks ND has a right to Nattys yet the program support and facilities are not elite. The program won’t do NIL upfront and still has academic limitations including on Transfers. Yet Kelly wasn’t good enough. Ok well you roll the dice and we are now not ranked and it’s now a big ducking mess.Talk to me when Kelly wins a playoff game. Ole Miss is akin to NC State of 2017. Sizzling hot take:
BK inherited a roster far more talented than MF did
BK was 4-5 at one point his first season with losses to Navy and Tulsa, which is worse than the current stretch.
BK is an unlikable asshole that was more tolerated by the fanbase than embraced.

BK also sucked at ND when his coordinators were bad. Well, Freeman has one shitty coordinator and I’m starting to think the other one might not be good either.Sizzling hot take:

Wow we're storming the field for beating the #7 team? Yikes lolHuh???? LSU fan base just stormed the field. I think they are much happier w him than we are with Nice Guy Marcus.
I'll take the upside of Freeman any day compared to Kelly and his ego. Neither LSU nor ND was going to win a title this year. I will certainly allow Freeman to get some experience as he continues to upgrade the roster. I will also always default to someone who not only appreciates, but embraces what ND stands for. Kelly say those things as a annoyance. Freeman sees them as an asset. I will always give the latter the benefit of doubt.Well ND certainly rolled the dice w Freeman. I like any Coach that can get us Top 5 and a chance at CFP. Freeman shit the bed this year as a Noob. I like proven winners - but hey that is just me.
Trust me if Freeman ever does this the ND fans storm they field too. Unfortanetly that won’t be happening due to the kaka coachingWow we're storming the field for beating the #7 team? Yikes lol
Yes and No. There are several points I disagree with. First of all, Notre Dame is not like any other team in the top 10, just based on enrollment numbers alone. It’s a small as fuck school in a podunk town which is already an uphill battle when you want to compare crowd intensity. Most of these top 10 schools are taking nearly every turd in the state who applies and are rolling with huge student fanbases. The only reason ND is still relevant today in terms of lore is because there are a bunch of highly aggressive nerds who have figured out how to market the school like they’re running Wall Street. Notre Dame doesn’t fuck around when it comes to profit, especially when you consider that we’re coming up short in terms of our physical size.I think Notre Dame just breeds softness, tameness, Ivy League mentality and a sense of football just not being important. This comes from the top down. Heck, even the fans are tame.
Thats why there isn't any raging intensity with our players. No sense of urgency. No swagger or attitude.
I love Kelly’s ego. You need a big ego to run a elite program.I'll take the upside of Freeman any day compared to Kelly and his ego. Neither LSU nor ND was going to win a title this year. Storming the field when they were actually favored by the sports books.Wow we're storming the field for beating the #7 team? Yikes lol
