Wear your best Notre Dame gear, from head to toe. Make your ringtone the ND fight song. Have your friends keep calling you during the speeches and then pretend to struggle to get your phone out of your pocket so the fight song plays for an uncomfortably long time with each call.

You'll ruin everyone's evening. Be the winner.
if you do this, I'll give you $1...treat yoself to some McDonalds.

I am at the point in fall camp that I have convinced myself ND is going to win with Buchner having an early Denard-like performance.

Hart and Joseph are going to force Stroud to run through his progressions, which he won't have time to do because of Foskey and company, and our OL/Buchner/Tyree with Rees putting in a new emphasis on RPOs are going to stress the OSU LBs who are learning a new defensive system for a fairly comfortable 10 point win.

Or they are going to beat us by 17.

OSU defense will be Van Gorder-esque. Stroud will cower under pressure, fumbling twice and throwing a pick 6 to Joseph. Pyne, Estime, and company play well in garbage time as the irish win 45-17; a score that veils the true beat down it was.

In reading the OSU stuff, the weakness of this defense is definitely CB and the athleticism specifically of the LBs. I think ND can do a lot of damage if they make them tackle in the open field. Safeties have some talent which was traditionally Ok State’s strength and DL has some talent which is traditionally OSUs own strength. Not worried about their DL versus our OL + Buchner’s wheels. Need someone at WR to keep the safeties honest.

After starting the season with two three and outs, the Irish realize that this new look Jim Knowles defense of the Buckeyes still struggle to stop the run while overplaying the passing downs. The Irish defense starts on their heels as well and surrender a long TD pass from Stroud on the Buckeyes first offensive possession and give the Buckeyes a FG on their second series after a couple of crucial 3rd down conversions. Trailing 10-0, the Irish offense gets going with two drives of their own- mixing the run game with some short passing routes to fight back with a TD of their own. After a few swapped possessions the Irish strike again with a long pass play that takes them to halftime with a 14-10 lead.

As the game settles in the second half, each team trades TDS in the third quarter. The Buckeyes catch a break when the Irish defense blows a coverage and Stroud, showing why he is a Heisman candidate, takes full advantage of it. Trailing 24-21 the Irish revert back to their run/pass game that puts the Buckeyes on their heals. Facing a 4th and goal from the five yard line with 26 seconds left in the game, Irish OC Thomas Kevin Rees steadies his young QB Tyler Buchner, calls an RPO, and Buchner breaks right looking for Ohio native and WR Lorenzo Styles. Not to be outdone, Knowles has his defense set perfectly and Buchner feels the heat from the young but talented Buckeye DL. After eluding the first defender, Buchner keeps his head up and spots Styles streaking to the corner of the end zone. Buchner squares his shoulders as Zack Harrison closes in. Buchner, processing the events, levels his shoulder and releases the ball. Styles, covered by two defenders now, elevates as the perfectly thrown ball spirals towards him. Making one last effort Styles extends his arms and ………….

So what's the O/U for targets to Mayer? 15?

Is Stroud mobile? If we can get pressure consistently, then who knows what’ll happen.

He could be but didn’t show it last year. He had that small injury and most think he/OSU didn’t want him hit at all

From a point perspective, what would you consider a defensive success? I think allowing 31 gives ND a chance to win it. Anything under 27 and I want Golden to get a raise.

After scrubbing through a video of his highlights last year, I couldn't find a single true running play highlight. He is mobile enough to avoid many pressures however.

Watching some of his passing plays though....receiver talent aside, he can throw a great looking ball. If he progresses in ability this year it's gonna be difficult for anyone to stop that offense.

IMO, first team to 35 wins.

Not a bad thought. I doubt they put over 35 on our defense. If Buchner can throw the ball early and they loosen up, he’ll be impossible to stop running the ball. If Rees think TB is going to come out and run the ball in the first series, we will be punting a lot.

Maybe I will be happily wrong (I’m not a QB coach), but I see Pyne bailing out Buchner a lot this season. That throwing motion is painful to watch and I’m not seeing Pynes accuracy in this video or any from last seasons games. I realize TB had a better pass percentage, but I just don’t see how this kid isn’t going to bail anytime he gets pressured with what I see as a mediocre arm talent. The biggest pull factor for a ‘23 QB flip might be one of those elite talents seeing how badly we need an elite QB once the season starts and that they could start from day 1. Hope I’m wrong.

What do you all know about Day? I’ve seen him in a couple interviews and he seems smug, but that was based on his demeanor and I’m biased.
I've heard him make some smug remarks (mostly about Michigan). Other than that I know he's been outspoken about the importance of managing mental health because his father took his own life. I think he started a charity for adolescent mental health. Good on him.

Football wise? No frickin clue. Perhaps he's still riding the wave Urban left.

Oh, the suspense! "And what happened ... what happened?" says the youthful Irish fan with a glean of wonderment in his eyes.

“The previous play in under review. “

On a serious note, are the officials B1G officials? If so, I hope it doesn’t come down to something like a review to determine the outcome.

Shouldn’t be. Believe they should be ACC officials.
