Other than universal healthcare (which for better or worse is the entire industrial world minus US), Russia is to the right politically of US on pretty much everything socially and economically. It's an authoritarian nationalist right wing country. Russia is far far right on social issues. Economically outside of healthcare system it's to the right of US on any sort of safety net or economic policy. Russia is to the right of Trump on environmental policy.

Not saying this in defense of socialism. I'm an ex leftists turned moderate over these last 7 years of so. I think one party / 1 ideology nation states suck.

Imperial Russia was one of the most reactionary nations of the 19th century, which is why it triggered the most brutal socialist revolutionary uprising. Now, having suffered through the worst of right and left, modern Russia is a kleptocracy run by mafiosi LARPing as imperials. They've got all of the vices of the ancien regime, but none of its virtues.

Read somewhere for China to do an amphibious landing in Taiwan it would have to be between April and October. Conditions in South China Sea are impractical for a large amphibious landing of personel and more importantly equipment this time of year.

Also read China would have to mobilize / move large amounts of equipment for an invasion to staging areas on it's south east coast, that they really can't hide from US satelites. Experts think Taiwan would have a minimum 60 day notice if China was actually going to invade.

Guys, Im asking for your prayers now. My wife's family lives in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine, one of the eastern cities being bombed right now by the Russians. They are right now in an old Soviet era bomb shelter. I dont know how the water supply or food supply will last. Appears that they have electricity still. My wife just texted me telling me that the bombing is pretty constant and that they can hear guns going off.

I know that all things are in God's hands and that He is a sovereign God. He is the Great Shepherd and I will trust in Him.

They don't even have a proper carrier, I believe they have one or two helicopter carriers. I think they still have in their constitution that they cannot build a proper attacking military only for defense.

I’m being slightly provocative (not sure if I fully agree with that stance). That said, the only diplomacy that Putin respects is the threat of defeat. Putin is also a somewhat rational actor and knows a full-scale war against NATO spells disaster for Russia. If you controlled the airspace then Ukraine would potentially have a chance here.

I think there’s a reasonable argument that upside outweighs downside.

These Ukrainians are so much tougher than us. If you threw Americans into Kyiv we'd have rolled over and surrendered already.

I say this as a Ukrainian and US Army veteran that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
Deep down you might be a weak coward, but rest assured there's still plenty of men left in America to defend you when the time comes.
