Fickell to Michigan and Freeman to Cincy, NOT! Good thing Bayou Brian bolted after Burnt Ends.

Understated sentiment here.

Even had Kelly stayed, what were the chances Freeman is still here as DC? Close to 0 IMO.

Swarbrick just got the jump.

There's just as much leaking about harbaugh getting all sorts of admin changes he asked for and an ext as there is about him returning to NFL. It's seeming like he is just leveraging

The Mack Brown thing is weird to me. Guy won 77% of his games at UT and had their only NC since 1970. He's basically Lou Holtz of Texas and we built a statue of Lou. It's not like Texas was that great before him and they've been a bit of a train wreck after him. I get that he was never some offensive or defensive "genius" but he was the head coach and he won a lot of games. Which is what he was supposed to do.

He made a lot of bad decisions in recruiting that resulted in Texas going from being the #1 destination in state for talent to losing their edge under Mack. His best years came before the rise of Gary at TCU, Baylor was nothing, A&M had lower ambitions, and fewer outside programs were poaching Texas talent. That all changed as Texas began fall from grace under Mack, they lost that talent and then they started losing the games. Gotta wonder at this point if Texas can ever be top dog again at this point. For all the money they throw around it hasn't done much for them lately.

One thing we've seen is that all the money in the world won't buy you a championship... at least not directly. You can hire an expensive coach and have top notch facilities and spend a ton on recruiting, but you have to get the RIGHT coach and keep the meddlesome boosters out of the kitchen. Texas has more money than they can spend and a rabid fanbase, but they either can't find the right coach or they can't keep the boosters from screwing things up. No amount of money will fix those two problems.

Hmmm - The Dolphin's situation is interesting. Stephen Ross has a Harbaugh connection and their coach really shouldn't have been let go.

Ross is a scUM alum. He's said he wouldn't go after Harbaugh because of his ties to scUM. Would he entertain Harbaugh if it's Harbaugh that reaches out?

Imagine how quick the flames of crazy will blow back into the college coaching world if Michigan and Ohio State both lost their heads (and possibility part of their staff).

I'm guessing Miami is more likely to pay Harbaugh what he will want versus Chicago.

Nagy was getting around $7M a year I believe. Day is due to get $7.6M in 2022. Harbaugh is due $4M at Michigan in 2022.

Hopefully you don't kiss your mother with that mouth.

She's in Ohio, got a positive PCR test a few days ago and is a Buckeye alum that couldn't give half a shit about Jim Harbaugh.

Thanks for kind of asking, I guess?

Joey Freshwater and the Vikings gaining some traction. That would be a colossal mistake but would provide a solid year or two of entertainment.

Matt Nagy gone.

Who do we hope gets this job - Ryan Day or Jim Harbaugh?

Does anyone truly believe Harbaugh is looking to bolt for the NFL? IMO, it seems like an obvious ploy to re-negotiate his contract…again…but this time heavily back in his favor. He can’t be happy about what Mel Tucker is being paid vs him. Plus, he finally beat tOSU & earned a CFP spot so he’s gonna want a hefty raise after taking one for his alma mater last year.

The Michigan insiders are saying money/leverage has nothing to do with it. Michigan would pay him but it may not matter. His NFL interest is real for other reasons.

Yes.

He's wired like a frigging Neanderthal and lost his only Super Bowl appearance. To his brother.

The NIL and transfer portal could have him reassessing just how worth it being a college coach might be. He can get back into the League, go for that Super Bowl and his boy Vic Fangio can be his DC since the Broncos just fired him.

This isn't what happened. Mack was known for putting a border around TX and locking up the in-state talent even near the end of his tenure. He probably did the best job of keeping talent in state of any coach in the country. Most of his recruiting classes were locked in very early. If he made any mistake recruiting-wise that may have been it. He probably would have been better off waiting on some of those kids to see how they performed their sr. years and recruited more nationally. Still, that wasn't his biggest issue either. His biggest issue was he lost his coaching mojo and he stopped competing for and winning Big 12 Championships. It's as simple as that. From that, the team developed a poor locker room culture, and after 16 years, UT finally had to let him go in 2013.

In 2012, UT had the #2 rated recruiting class - 28 total recruits, 25 of which were from TX. The previous 3 years were ranked as follows:

2011 - #4 (almost all from TX)
2010 - #2 (almost all from TX)
2009 - #6 (almost all from TX)

TCU, Baylor, and A&M didn't even crack the top 15 recruiting rankings any of those 4 years, and only A&M cracked the top 20 when they finished 16th in 2012. UT didn't lose talent to any of those programs.

Mack's final 3 years or so were spent with his butt firmly on the hot seat, and when he started losing again in 2013, the writing was on the wall, and recruiting finally took a hit - #17 recruiting class which is somewhat typical for top-tier schools when they fire their coaches.

Mack has always been one hell of a recruiter. He just isn't as good at developing a program as he used to be.

SIAP - Davonte Neal is the new CB coach at Idaho State. Worth watching how his career progresses.

Dan Levitar said Harbaugh to Miami is a possibility and more so than him landing in Chicago.

Chicago isn't going to pay him. And the Miami owner is a Michigan grad, correct?

Who Michigan gets next is going to be key. I'd think they have to call Fickell. Or they do an ND and promote Gattis.
